As a basic industry for the economic development of a country,the energy industry is related to national security and social stability.As China’s economic development has entered the new normal,environmental protection and ecological construction continue to advance,the energy industry is undergoing structural reforms,which is undoubtedly a great test for traditional energy companies.As the carrier of knowledge application and technological innovation,human capital has become a key factor in improving corporate performance.This paper uses the panel data of 141 listed companies in the energy industry for five years,and uses multiple regression methods to study the relationship between human capital and company performance.Based on the research conclusions,it proposes suggestions for the sustainable development of energy companies.This paper analyzes the particularity of the energy industry,the status quo of human capital,and the status of corporate performance.It sorts out the relevant theories of human capital,corporate performance,and the relationship between them.It is concluded that human capital is a key factor in improving corporate performance;proper selection of human capital Indicators of corporate performance measurement methods,using panel data for empirical analysis.It was found that improving the education level of senior executives and the average employee’s human capital investment can significantly improve company performance.There is no significant positive correlation between employees’ education level and company performance.There is no significant correlation between the proportion of technical staff and company performance.The listed companies in the energy industry should strengthen the recognition of human capital,attach importance to the role of human capital in enterprises,and promote the healthy and sustainable development of enterprises.
