Due to the fact that the traditional line heating ship manufacture process is difficult to meet the needs of modern ship manufacture technique,the dieless single-point incremental forming technology is becoming one of the keys to promote the transformation and upgrade of the ship manufacture industry and improve the level of ship manufacture technique.The dieless single-point incremental forming technique is a new type of complex surface forming technique.It is on the basis of the concept of ‘layered manufacturing' in the rapid prototyping manufacture technique.The complex three-dimensional surface shape is discretized into a series of two-dimensional partial shapes.And then the digital instructions are sent to the computer numerical control machine tools.The forming tool indenter will process and form the layers sequentially under control.A new progressive bending process in combination with the stamping process and the single point incremental forming technique has been proposed.This paper is focused on the finite element numerical simulation technique and its application in the sheet metal forming process,using LS-DYNA software in static implicit solution.In this paper,the experimental devices and the theoretical method are introduced first.Then the finite element numerical simulation technique is used to simulate the sheet metal forming process with a number of reasonable simplification,and then the results are analyzed.Furthermore,the sheet metal forming experiments are carried out,including the single curvature plates,the variable curvature plates and the saddle-shaped plates forming.Besides,the plate splicing experiments of the variable curvature plates are carried out.Finally,combining the numerical simulation technique with experimental research,the forming process is optimized and the spring back experiments are carried out.The main research results are as follows:1.This incremental bending process can be applied to the formation of single curvature,the variable curvature and the saddle-shaped plates.2.The forming data that can-not show directly during the forming process can be obtained through the numerical simulation technique.It can also be applied to the error analysis and explaining the influence of the related factors on the forming results.3 The forming results are better by improving the way of sheet metal fixation.The spring back characteristics of different stamping trajectories are provided by experiments.
