Reconstruction is an archetype-based architectural design method that is often used in exterior design of buildings to correlate design results with the history and geography of the building. The interior space often explains and metaphors history and culture by means of organizing symbols, words, drawings and furnishings, and the spatial form as the design object does not participate in the design process. This dissertation discussed the possibility of using the reconstructed design method in the interior space design to make the indoor space form metaphorize history and culture directly. This dissertation took the museum atrium space as the design object.Through the research of the reconstruction design method and the practice of the project, the application of the reconstruction design method in the indoor space is discussed emphatically. The dissertation can be divided into three parts: the first part discussed the method of spatial reconstruction by studing the related case and summarizing the content of the reconstruction method of the external space form of buildings. The second part was to obtain the prototype of the Chu culture palace through the procession of clarifying the constituent factors and historical stages of the Chu culture and the specific palace building ruins. The third part applied the method into the Chu culture museum atrium design, and discussed the guidelines and measures of the design.
