In recent years,with the development of image processing technology,vehicle speed detection technology based on image processing has become a hot spot in traffic speed measurement research.In order to simplify the existing road vehicle speed measurement system and reduce the cost of the speed measurement system,we propose a video speed measurement algorithm based on image processing.We have studied the overall architecture of the video speed measurement system based on image processing,related vehicle detection and tracking algorithms,and distributed vehicle speed calculation methods.The main contents of our work are as follows:(1)Architecture of the video speed measurement system.We have conducted a detailed study on the video speed measurement system,analyzed the difficulties existing in the system,and proposed related solutions to the difficulties,and designed the hardware structure and software structure of the video speed measurement system.(2)Vehicle detection and tracking algorithm.We have studied the related technologies of vehicle detection and tracking,proposed an adaptive selection update vehicle detection method based on background modeling,and further proposed a vehicle tracking method combining Kalman filter and Hungarian algorithm.(3)Distributed speed calculation.The paper uses the virtual collision method to calculate the vehicle speed.In order to reduce the vehicle speed calculation error caused by traversing the vehicle tracking queue,a parallel computing method in distributed computing is used to calculate the vehicle speed in the vehicle tracking queue in parallel.A distributed vehicle speed calculation method is presented.We have designed a practical video speed measurement system,using animation simulation and car simulation experiments to test the algorithm,and using a vehicle with a known speed on an actual road in the city,to perform the speed measurement system experiment.The experimental results show that our proposed video speed measurement method can effectively detect the vehicles in the video,the vehicle tracking algorithm can accurately track the car,and the calculated speed measurement error is controlled within a range of less than 3.2%,which meets the relevant speed measurement standards and has certain practical value.
