As one of the major disasters affecting human engineering activities,gravel soil landslide is easy to cause casualties and economic losses.In order to study the stability and instability process of gravel soil landslide,this paper takes Yangjiahe landslide of Xizhen highway as the research object,The limit equilibrium method,strength reduction method and numerical analysis and Simulation of rock and soil are used,The stability and instability process of gravel soil landslide are studied and analyzed,We can draw the following conclusions:(1)Based on the stability calculation of the landslide profile of Yangjiahe,the stability coefficient of the upper gravel soil part is 1.125,the stability coefficient of the lower powder clay part is 1.120,is in an unstable state,and under the saturated condition,the stability coefficient of the upper gravel soil part is 0.992.The landslide is in an unstable state,the stability coefficient of the lower powder clay part is 1.045,and the unstable state is consistent with the qualitative evaluation.(2)Accroding to the finite element GTS NX software,the strength reduction method is used to simulate the landslide.The stability coefficient is 1.1281 in natural condition and 0.9879 in saturated condition.It can be seen by the simulation results,the results and gravel part of the division calculation is similar,the plastic area exists in the lower part of the gravel soil and the upper part of the powdered clay,This part is the most dangerous sliding surface.(3)Accroding to PFC2D software simulation,When the sliding mass is in the saturated state,the deformation of the landslide first occurs at the toe of the front edge of the gravel soil,and the foot of the gravel soil is continuously pulled from the bottom to the top,and at the same time,the upper part of the front silty clay is pushed forward and expanded from top to bottom,resulting in the overall failure of the landslide.(4)The process of landslide movement can be divided into three stages:constant velocity deformation stage,variable speed movement stage and relative static stage.The maximum displacement of landslide particles is 41m and the maximum velocity is 3.7m/s.When the external factors are not considered,the yangjiahe landslide will produce stress on the proposed pier,which will affect the safety and stability of the pier.
