How to dispose and use the waste tires effectively has become a hot issue in the world,and the number of waste tires produced in China every year ranks the first in the world.In order to make full use of waste tires,the tire wall could be formed by the filling of the waste tire with soil.At present,there is little research on the waste tire retaining wall at home and abroad.For the purpose of comparative study,firstly,the working performance of waste tire retaining wall is studied,and its shortcomings are analyzed.The paper puts forward the waste tire + geogrid reinforced soil retaining wall composed of waste tires and geogrid,in addition,the concrete is used to smooth the groove of the waste tire to form the jetereting waste tire + geogrid reinforced soil retaining wall,and the static performance and the seismic performance are studied.The specific research results include following aspects:(1)For the waste tire retaining wall,the effects of the external loads,the size of waste tire,the strength of backfill on the static deformation performance of waste tire retaining wall are studied by FLAC3 D,and the reasonable ranges of the design parameters and the shortcomings of the waste tire retaining wall under the static load are given.(2)For the shortcomings of waste tire retaining wall,the effects of the external loads,the size of waste tire,the length,spacing and rigidity of geogrid and the strength of backfill on the static deformation performance of waste tire + geogrid reinforced soil retaining wall are studied by FLAC3 D,the horizontal deformation of the top of the wall,the vertical settlement of the backfill behind the wall,the horizontal earth pressure at the back of the wall and the distribution law of the plastic zone behind the wall are analyzed,and the reasonable ranges of the design parameters of the waste tire + geogrid reinforced soil under the static load are given.(3)Based on the most stable static condition of waste tire + geogrid reinforced soil retaining walls,the seismic performance of the structure is studied by numerical analysis method considering earthquake intensity;considering the effects of the length,spacing and rigidity of geogrid and the strength of backfill,the variation laws of seismic residual deformation,the settlement of backfill surface,the dynamic earth pressure on the back of the wall and geogrid stress are analyzed,and the reasonable ranges of the design parameters of the jetereting waste tire + geogrid reinforced soil retaining wall under the seismic load are given.(4)The waste tire + geogrid reinforced soil retaining wall is regarded as a homogeneous elastomer,based on a large number of numerical simulation results,the calculation formulas of horizontal earth pressure and vertical earth pressure for waste tire + geogrid reinforced soil retaining wall are derived by semi-inverse method.The calculation formula of horizontal earth pressure is compared with the calculation formula in code and numerical simulation results,and the rationality of the calculation formula is verified.(5)Based on the fracture surface and horizontal earth pressure calculation formula of waste tire + geogrid reinforced earth retaining wall under static load,the waste tire + geogrid reinforced earth retaining wall was equivalent to cantilever beam,the calculation formula of the horizontal deformation for waste tire + geogrid reinforced soil retaining walls is derived based on polynomial identity theorem and the Castigliano's Theorem.The calculation formula of horizontal deformation is compared with the numerical simulation results,and the rationality of the calculation formula is verified.(6)Finally,the static performance and seismic performance of the three kinds of waste tire retaining walls are with that of the gravity retaining wall,cantilever retaining wall and geogrid reinforced panel retaining wall,the deformation of the top of the wall,the surface settlement of the backfill behind the wall and the distribution characteristics of the earth pressure on the back of the wall are analyzed,the advantages of the working performance of the three kinds of waste tire retaining walls are revealed,which provides reference for the popularization and application of the project.
