In nature,there are two types of vision systems.One is a monocular vision system similar to the human eye;The other is the compound eye vision system,which has many advantages,such as wide field of view(FOV),high time resolution,compact structure,accurate navigation using polarized light and so on.Therefore,it has attracted the research of many scholars at home and abroad.With the development of flexible materials and micronano fabrication,the compound eye system has gradually developed from a planar compound eye to a curved compound eye system.The size and structure are also moving towards miniaturization and light weight.It has great development potential and value in optical fields such as aircraft and robot navigation,3D imaging,and large FOV detection.This article analyzes the composition and function of the compound eyes of insects and studies the principle of compound eyes.By abstracting the compound eye structure into a mathematical geometric model,the constraint relationship between compound eye optical parameters is derived,and the compound eye optical parameters are determined.According to the optical principle of the apposition bionic compound eye,a single micro lens is designed,and the single micro lens is arrayed by using Zemax's non-sequential mode and Soilworks.The curved image surface formed by the curved array was converted to a planar image by introducing a relay system,which could be received by a planar detector.By the micro-lens array and the relay system were combined and the image quality was optimized,the compound eye structure that meets the parameter requirements is obtained.the tolerance analysis and mechanical structure was designed aiming at the additive manufacture method of the compound eye system.The compound eye system has a FOV of 123.7 ° and a total length of 6.65 mm.The optimized relay system consists of only 4 lenses,with a simple structure,and the materials are all PMMA.The micro-lens array contained 2437 closely-spliced hexagonal micro-lenses.Each lens had a FOV of 4° and a clear aperture of 110?m.The compound eye system's MTF values of each FOV were greater than 0.3 at 120lp/mm and the corresponding RMS spot radii were less than the radius of Airy disk.The analysis results indicate good image quality of the compound eye was obtained.The tolerance design has the feasibility of the additive manufacturing process,and the designed tolerance meets the imaging quality requirements.
