In recent years,UAVs have been widely used in various fields due to their low cost, easy operation and high flexibility. However, the limited battery life has become a bottleneck for drones in various applications, and the energy-saving communication problems of the drone systems associated with it have received widespread attention. With the goal of energy-saving communication, this paper studies the path planning and resource management of single-antenna and multi-antenna drones based on two new energy consumption models. The specific research contents are as follows:(1)The energy-saving communication problem in the single-antenna UAV relay system is studied,in which a single-antenna UAV provides relay services for multiple sensor nodes. In this study, under the constraints of the minimum reachable rate of the link, the transmission power, the drone's mobility, and the information causality,an optimization problem is studied, which jointly designs UAV's trajectory, the transmitter power of the drone and the source nodes,to minimize the energy consumption of the UAV.The obtained problem is non-convex and difficult to solve. We propose an successive convex approximation(SCA)based method to solve this problem approximatly.Simulation results show the effectiveness of the method.(2)The energy-saving communication problem in multi-antenna drone information collection system is studied,in which one multi-antenna drone collects information from multiple sensor nodes. In this study, under the constraints of uplink minimum achievable throughput, transmission power, drone speed, and time of flight,an optimization problem is studied, which jointly designs the real-time speed of the drone and sensor node power allocation,to minimize the maximum energy consumption of the sensor devices. The obtained problem is non-convex and difficult to solve. This paper proposes an optimization method based on SCA to solve this problem, and compares the performance of the maximum radio combining(MRC)receiving scheme and the zero forcing(ZF)receiving scheme.Simulation results show that, compared with the initial scheme, the algorithm can greatly reduce the energy consumption of sensor nodes.Compared with the MRC receiving scheme, the performance improvement brought by the ZF receiving scheme is more obvious. The research and its results are of great significance for enriching the research results of energy efficiency of existing drone communication systems and promoting the application of drones in the field of Internet of Things.
