The Application And Design Of Landscape Materials In Coastal Cities Of Northern China

Urban space design is inseparable from landscape design elements.Therefore,landscape materials play a decisive role.To a certain extent,landscape materials determine the sense of beauty and development for landscape design.Objects made of wood can bring a refreshing and natural sense of simplicity.Interactive landscape can bring fresh experiences to people’s five senses through high technology.Based on relevant theories such as landscape ecology,landscape design,environmental psychology,and urban design,this thesis offers an overview of the material selection,objectives,significance,domestic and overseas research status and development trend for urban landscape.Through an analysis of the climatic characteristics,geological features,and people flow characteristics of Xiaoping Island of Dalian City,the thesis offers planning and design.Meanwhile,the thesis mainly focus on the materials required for landscape design,providing basis for urban space building practices in coastal cities of northern China.The thesis searches for the role of urban design at home and abroad and the impact of material use on the venue,clarifies the design content and purpose,and finds out corresponding theoretical basis and classical design cases at home and abroad in terms of site selection and research purpose.The thesis describes the principles for landscape selection in landscape design,and the attributes of plant,stone,wood,metal,plastics,concrete,and glass,and explains the use of landscape materials in space.Then,the thesis offers a complete design of the urban coastal space of Xiaoping Island Park in Dalian City.The integrated proposal takes “leaf” as the design concept.Leaf symbolizes vitality and vigor and represents development and health.The “city flower” of Dalian is Chinese rose and the “city tree” is locust tree.The thesis extracts the outer appearance and extended meaning of leaves and rationally uses landscape materials to create a new image for urban new areas.Citing the example of the design of Xiaoping Island Park,the thesis concludes that in terms of northern coastal space landscape materials,stone and metal should be selected as the basic materials for sculptures and landscape sketches while metal should be selected as the supplementary material;in terms of plants,salt-resistant and wind-resistantneedle-leaved plants appropriate for local use should be used,supplemented by metal materials to form colorful and safe landscape facilities.This research outcome will build a sightseeing space with distinctive features for the coastal space of cities in northern China.
