Airborne network is a new type of mobile wireless ad hoc network with manned aircraft and UAV as nodes.Compared with the traditional wireless Ad Hoc network,airborne network is in a more complicated cyberspace environment.The limited bandwidth of transmission links,the frequent links changing on and off,and the high error rate,especially the effectiveness of the platform and the characteristics of mobility make the network topology of airborne network greatly time-varying and highly dynamic.For better suiting to delay-sensitive applications under the complicated and changeable airborne network environment,our research proposes a secure and reliable airborne network transmission protocol based on block coding.This paper is organized as the following parts:Firstly,the on-board network transport protocol is designed on top of UDP,considering the simple and fast transmission of UDP protocol,and the block-based secure and reliable coding scheme is constructed given the FEC coding method with linear network coding.To achieve the secure distinction,we use different encryption matrix and plaintext to do encryption operation and the serial number is also used in the calculation of the encryption matrix to withstand replay attacks and other network threats.We then design the adaptive coding module for the transmission protocol,and adjust the coding parameters adaptively according to the link state.All these researches can be used in the airborne network to control traffic and congestion,distinguish the types of packet loss according to the changing rate of bandwidth,and adjust the transmission rate according to the bandwidth estimation,contributing to successful traffic and congestion control.Finally,the designing process and implementation of the protocol are presented,including the design of Sub-module on the sender and receiver,the detailed information about the agreement framework,the content of message structure and the introduction of major data structures and functions involved.Besides,the protocol performance is tested as well.The results show that the transmission protocol designed in this paper leads to great transmission performance under airborne network with high error rate and limited bandwidth.
