Vehicle Adaptive Driving Beam System(ADB system for short)is raised in this paper.When driving at night,high beam will probably be turned on if the ambient brightness is not so good.Meanwhile,the driver in front will be disturbed by high beam which may lead to safety hazard.ADB system can keep the high beam on and turn off the high beam area automatically if the vehicle in front is detected.In this way,ADB system can increase the driver’s view at night and won’t disturb other drivers’ safety driving in the meantime.In this paper,the development status and future trend of head lamp is analyzed.Then the design requirement and research necessity of ADB system is summarized and the ADB system which can satisfy the regulation is presented.ADB system architecture is defined which contains vehicle camera,ADB system optical module,ADB system control module and central control module.CAN bus is considered to be used as communication.Then hardware design and software design is completed.The ADB system design requirement from vehicle camera and car body signals collection to high beam segment automatically control is achieved with the combine of hardware and software.ADB system function and technical feasibilty is also be verified by using MATLAB simulation tool.Finally,ADB system performance is verified on demo car.The feasibility of ADB system design and its value for practical application is shown.
