With the development of society,non-linear loads are more and more widely used in people's production and life.These non-linear loads increase the consumption of reactive power.For example,electric arc furnaces,electric motors,and various household electrical appliances also generate harmonics while consuming reactive power,which causes waveform distortion in the grid current and affects the efficiency of the grid.Therefore,in order to improve power quality and reduce the harm of reactive power and harmonics to the power grid,how to suppress harmonics and achieve dynamic reactive power compensation is the focus of many researchers.So far,the active power filter(APF)is the most widely used power electronic device in the power grid system,which has remarkable characteristics such as reliable performance and flexible use.In order to maintain the safety and reliability of the power grid,this paper takes a dynamic reactive power compensation and harmonic suppression system based on active power filter(APF)as the research object.The problems of reactive power and harmonics in the current power grid are elaborated in detail,and several existing methods to deal with such problems are listed.The basic method of reactive power detection and the method of determining reactive power compensation capacity are explained,and several kinds of reactive power compensation devices currently in use are briefly introduced.Several methods of harmonic detection are analyzed in detail and the principles of reactive power compensation and harmonic suppression are studied in depth.On this basis,the principles of reactive power compensation and harmonic suppression based on active power filter(APF)are explained.Due to the various performance limitations of traditional components for reactive power compensation and harmonic suppression,the use of active power filters is convenient and flexible,which can realize the real-time reactive component and harmonic component of the current in the power grid.Monitoring and tracking compensation.Assist the active power filter(APF)to compensate by parallel LC filters,which can minimize the harm of reactive power and harmonics to the power grid.Through MATLAB / SIMULINK software,the simulation circuit of the power grid under non-linear load is built,and the current waveform and spectrum characteristic graph under non-linear load are detected.Then it is compared with the circuit current waveform and spectrum characteristics compensated by the active power filter.It is proved that this method is feasible for real-time compensation of reactive power in the power grid and suppression of harmonics in the power grid.Finally,the engineering example simulation and analysis of the active filter further confirmed the feasibility of this method and contributed to improving the compensation of the system.
