The crosswalk is a secure facility for pedestrians to cross the street and a critical area where vehicles are reminded to yield to pedestrians.Yielding to pedestrians in front of the crosswalk is not only a concrete manifestation of abiding by the law,but also an important symbol of urban traffic civilization.However,without signal crosswalk on the road section,the crosswalk is a key area for drivers and pedestrians to compete for the right of way.Especially in the traffic environment is relatively complex in Beijing,the illegal phenomenon of motor vehicles not yielding is widespread,which affects the safety of pedestrians crossing the street and the construction of urban civilization.Moreover,the road traffic environment in Beijing is complex,and the drivers’ yield decision is easily affected by the surrounding environment,which can provide special sample data for this study.Because of the above phenomenon,it is necessary to conduct an in-depth study on the situation of motor vehicle yielding management at the crosswalk uncontrolled midblock.First of all,14 typical uncontrolled mid blocks were selected in Beijing as the research object to investigate the vehicle yield.The data of 769 motor vehicle yielding samples were collected through on-site observation and video shooting.And from the vehicle characteristics,pedestrian characteristics,street-crossing facilities,traffic conditions,road environment five aspects of the factors affecting the vehicle yield decision to conduct statistical analysis.Based on SPSS24.0 software,the index system of influencing factors of motor vehicle yielding decision was established,with main influencing factors extracted by using chi-square test and the t-test.Secondly,based on the binary logistic regression,the model established an uncontrolled motor vehicle behavioral model of pedestrian crosswalks.It was verified that the model can well reflect the characteristics of motor vehicle yielding behavior after explain and evaluate the model.The model also clarified that 10 factors have a significant impact on the intervention yield method,which were vehicle type(private car),vehicle speed,yielding gesture,number of people waiting to cross the street,location of pedestrians waiting to cross the street(betweenroads),ground sign “motor vehicle give way to pedestrians ”,number of people and vehicles in conflicts,time distribution,number of lanes and functional area.Finally,based on clarifying the influencing factors of driver yielding behavior,learning from the experience of motor vehicle yielding management at domestic and international and combined with the special traffic environment of Beijing,this paper puts forward the motor vehicle yielding management measures and suggestions from the six aspects of publicity and education,legal construction,traffic facilities,law enforcement supervision,technology application and safety atmosphere.And based on the existing research,it puts forward three management modes of "accumulative" reward and punishment method,lane division and traffic transfer mode,and illegal early warning mechanism.The results of this study will provide a scientific theoretical basis for the establishment of motor vehicle yield management mode by the traffic management department of Beijing.
