The Time Projection Chamber(TPC)is a high-precision detector that can reconstruct the three-dimensional track of beam particles and has high position resolution.It is widely used in many particle physics experiments and nuclear physics experiments.In order to optimize the beam transmission of the medium and high-energy radioactive beamline in Lanzhou(RIBLL2),this work developed a new GEM-TPC detector on the basis of the previous TPC in cooperation with Wigner Research Center for Physics,Hungury.It adopts a readout track structure that meets the requirements of future experiments,and overcomes the defect that the old TPC still collects the background when there is no beam.The new GEM-TPC was tested in January 2019 at the external target terminal of RIBLL2,a large scientific device of the Lanzhou Heavy Ion Accelerator,Institute of Modern Physics,Chinese Academy of Sciences.The results show that the detector has a good position resolution and can be applied to future experiments.The basic framework of the work of this thesis is as follows:The first part briefly introduces the development of the gas detector and the status of the time projection chamber.The second part introduces the motion theory of scattered electrons in the drift region.The third part introduces the hardware structure of the detector,the working principle of the time projection chamber and the experimental platform RIBLL2 used in this experiment.The fourth part first introduced the original data structure,followed by the work on the position resolution of the detector,and introduced the data analysis method and logic.After obtaining the track of the particles passing through the detector,analyze and process the obtained position information in detail.Finally,the position resolution of TPC is obtained.This experiment has been done successfully,and the results show the detector reached our preliminary research purpose.
