At present, especially in hilly area of Guangxi, the problem of high labor intensityof sugarcane leaf stripping process and low efficiency problem of leaf peeling are urgentto be solved. In order to adapt to the characteristics of hilly area and to change the currentmode of sugarcane harvest, the sugarcane are collected together by the large-scalesugarcane stripper for stripping their leaves and the farmers are liberated from the heavymanual labor. The overall performance of the large-scale sugarcane stripper has beenaffected by the performance of the stripper roller which is the key parts of the stripper, Soit is very important to study the roller on the large-scale sugarcane stripper.Since Taguchi Genichi proposed the robust design method, the robust design havebeen widely used in all walks of life to improve the quality of the products, the mainwork of this paper is to develop the design ideology of Taguchi robust design applied inthe large-scale sugarcane stripper roller, in order to improve the working performance oflarge sugarcane leaf stripping station. Firstly, t the large-scale sugarcane stripper whichhas been researched in a unit in Liuzhou Guangxi province has been taken as the researchobject in this paper, introduces the research status at home and abroad, and the sugarcanestripper mechanism is analyzed, and get the key factors affecting the performance of thestripper roller's performance. Then? the detail analysis of the motion of the large-scalesugarcane stripper, work stress have been carried on and combined with thethree-dimensional design software Pro E to design the large-scale sugarcane stripperroller. A conclusion that the deformation of peeling roller in working process is the mainfactor which affecting the performance were gotten. Next, the specific analysis of thebearing which on the stripper rollers were did, the leaf peeling roller boundary conditionsand the finite element analysis of the leaf stripping rollers are been determine. Finally, inthe robust design, selection of large leaf peeling roller diameter D, inner diameter d andthe baffle of width b as the controllable factors, and take the quality of the roller, thepeeling roller force and deformation in the work as the objective function, and thecontrollable factors in different combinations of target function value by usingorthogonal experiment and ANSYS Workbench simulation. Finally, the structuralparameters on the stripper roller which are greatest impact of the stripper roller'sperformance was reasonably selected and identified as D=55m, d=30mm, b=4mm. Thefinal solution is that deflection of the peeling roller in working process is1.72mm, meetthe actual demand.In the Taguchi robust design applications, there have been no previous finiteelement analysis method and the Taguchi robust design method appropriate to combinethe precedent, and finite element analysis method combined with the method of robustdesign have been used in this paper to completed the design of large-scale sugarcane leafstripping roller. Compared with the traditional optimization design and robust design, the design process is simple and has a satisfactory result.The results show that the design efficiency can greatly improved by the robustdesign which using the Taguchi method combined with FEM, the performance oflarge-scale sugarcane stripper roller which designed by this method are improved greatly,and at the same time this paper provides some reference for the design on othermechanical products.
