Function of protect horticulture is artificial regulation about natural environment which is not conducive to the growth and development of horticultural crops to achieve the out-of-season production. Therefore, facilities environmental elements such as temperature,humidity,CO2 concentration, light and root environment is the key to decide whether the protect horticulture production is success.Among these factors, the light has a special status.Light provide the energy required for the plants.Light directly or indirectly affect a variety of physiological metabolism of plants. The new type of light source light-emitting diode(Light-emitting diode,LED)have the characteristics of low power consumption, small size, low fever,et al.LEDs can provide specific spectral light absorbed by the plants. Thus,it becomes very convenient for experts and scholars to study light reaction mechanism of the plants. The monochrome LED may emit spectral light absorbed by plants, combining LEDs light sources have spectrum of plant photosynthesis and morphogenesis.Effects of different spectral lights on growth, morphology and physiological metabolism are significant difference.Different spectral lights also can improve the qualities of horticultural crops. There are little researches about these interiorly.Light reactions are different among different plants,so further research is needed in order to promote the popularization and application of the LED light source in agriculture.Root environment of plants is significant in the facilities.Substrates have some buffer action and nutrients, moisture,pH and temperature change slowly.Substrate culture has many similarities with soil cultivation,so cultivation techniques are easy to grasp. For own national conditions,China has developed a variety of substrate culture. There are many researches studying effects of different substrates on growth of horticulture crops, but there is no research about non-heading Chinese cabbage. Also there are little researches about utilization of herb residue. This study uses non-heading Chinese cabbage(Brassica campestris L.)as experimental material to study effects of different spectral lights and different substrates on growth of non-heading Chinese cabbage. The purposes are to filter suitable light sources and substrates for facility cultivation of non-heading Chinese cabbage. The results are as follows:1.The effects of different spectral lights on growth of non-heading Chinese cabbage were invested. The results showed that red LEDs promoted the growth of leaves.Blue LEDs were benefit to the elongation of roots.Non-heading Chinese cabbage under yellow or green LEDs grew weak.Non-heading Chinese cabbage under red plus blue LEDs(R:B=6:1)presented the highest fresh weight, dry weight and leaves number.Red plus blue LEDs were more suitable for non-heading Chinese cabbage.2.The effects of different spectral lights on quality of non-heading Chinese cabbage were invested. The results showed that red LEDs reduced the pigments concentrations of leaves.Blue LEDs were benefit to the formation of carbon compounds concentrations.Yellow LEDs induced the synthesis and accumulation of vitamin C.Non-heading Chinese cabbage under green LEDs had higher carotenoids concentrations than other LEDs.Non-heading Chinese cabbage under red plus blue LEDs presented the higher vitamin C concentration, the highest nitrate reductase activity and the lowest nitrate concentration.Red plus blue LEDs were more suitable for non-heading Chinese cabbage.3.The effects of different substrates on growth of non-heading Chinese cabbage were invested. The results showed that non-heading Chinese cabbage in CK treatment are robust and evenly, however, plants in No.5 treatment(vermiculite:perlite:turf:herb residue =1:1:0:1)obtained the maximum yield.Pigment concentrations were significantly greatest in No.3 treatment(vermiculite:perlite:turf:herb residue = 1:1:1:2).There were no significant differences on the concentrations of soluble sugar.Non-heading Chinese cabbage in No.4 treatment(vermiculite:perlite:turf:herb residue = 1:1:1:0),grew slowly and nutrient deficiency.
