‘Dabieshan 1 hao' was taken as the experiment material in our study,while the plants are treated with IAA and TIBA(Auxin polar transport inhibitor)via foliar spraying before galls swelling with two types of spraying method: 7d treatment and 15 d treatment.To determinate the effects of IAA on swollen gall formation,we had explored the swollen gall formation,carbohydrate metabolism and cellular structure in Zizania latifolia Turcz.by the treatment of exogenous IAA and TIBA.The main results indicated that:Exogenous IAA had significantly increased the gall formation rate and yield of Zizania latifolia Turcz..While there was no significant differences between 7d and 15 d treatment with IAA in gall formation rate,and the yield of Zizania latifolia Turcz.in 7d treatment was much more than the yield in15 d treatment.On the contrary,the pregnancy rate and yield were significantly reduced in TIBA treatment;there were no significant differences between 7d and 15 d treatment with TIBA.Exogenous IAA treatment had significantly increased the content of endogenous IAA,had apparent effect to the formation of swollen gall,including the weight of gall with shell,net weight,dry weight,volume and transverse diameters of gall in the meanwhile.While plant treated in 15 d treatment showed significantly higher of the endogenous IAA than 7d treatment.And exogenous TIBA had significantly decreased the content of endogenous auxin in swollen gall,and plant treated in15 d treatment had the much lower content stems of endogenous auxin than the 7d-treated plant.About the formation of swollen gall,there was a slightly difference in different morphological indicators in different growth period in IAA-treated plants,and showed an obvious promotion effect on the whole plant.While exogenous TIBA had significantly hindered the normal process of the swollen gall formation,furthermore,exogenous TIBA had obviously reduced the value of the weight of gall with shell,net weight,volume and transverse diameters of gall on the whole,and had enhanced the dry weight of gall in the middle and later periods.As the gall swelling,the advantages were more and more obvious in the formation of swollen gall in 7d-treated plant with exogenous IAA,as the values of the weight of gall with shell,net weight,volume and transverse diameters of gall in 7d-treated plant with exogenous IAA had significantly improved compared to the values in 15d-treated plant with exogenous IAA in the middle and late of the swelling periods.Similarly,exogenous TIBA in 7d treatment had a much more obvious inhibitory effect than 15 d treatment in the middle and late of the swelling period.Exogenous IAA treatment had significantly increased the photosynthetic ability,as exogenous IAA had significantly promoted the accumulation of carbohydrate including the sucrose,glucose,fructose,soluble total sugar and reducing sugar,and had regulated of the activity of AI?SPS and SS.While,exogenous IAA treatment had significantly increased the values of Pn?Gs and Tr,and significantly reduce the value of Ci.On the contrary,Exogenous TIBA treatment had significantly reduced the value Pn?Gs and Tr,and significantly increased the value of Ci;Exogenous IAA treatment had significantly enhanced the content of the sucrose,glucose,fructose,soluble total sugar and reducing sugar in swollen gall no matter what kind of treatment,and significantly hindered the accumulation of starch and crude fiber in the middle of swelling period.Different treatment in different periods of swelling had slightly different effects on the accumulation of carbohydrates,but the overall difference is not obvious.The role of exogenous TIBA and exogenous IAA is different in gall swelling process,while exogenous TIBA had no significant effect on the accumulation of sucrose,had significantly reduced the value of glucose,fructose,soluble total sugar and reducing sugar in swollen gall,and significantly promote the accumulation of starch and crude fiber in gall in different period;Exogenous IAA treatment had significantly increased the activity of SPS in different period,had significantly increased the activity of AI in the early and middle period,had significantly increased the activity of SS in the early period but had significantly decreased the activity in the late period.Exogenous TIBA had significantly increased the SS activity,and decreased the AI activity in the late period,while it increased the activity of SPS in the early and middle period.Exogenous IAA treatment had significantly increased the cell volume of swollen gall in the early period,and was better to ensure the integrity of gall cell.On the contrary,the volume of cell is much smaller than exogenous IAA-treated plant in the early period;it is showed that the integrity of gall cell had a much more serious damage as the better growth of hyphae and spores.In a nutshell,exogenous IAA can better coordinate the symbiotic relationship between Zizania latifolia Turcz.And Ustilago esculenta P hennings,to ensure the cell vitality of swollen gall to some extent.
