Intercropping of spring maize and winter wheat can make fully using the growing season,increasing the multiple cropping indexes and exploring the yield potential of filed land.It is such a planting model which can fully play of the advantages of resources.The effects of different nitrogen application rates on maize photosynthetic characteristics and yield traits in winter wheat/spring maize intercropping system were studied by setting up field experiment.It was adopted the design of split zone with applying nitrogen fertilizer as the main area,and planting model as the vice area.It was aimed to provid the theoretical and practical basis for the development of winter wheat/spring maize intercropping model in Jinzhong area.The main results of this experiment were as follows:Within the amounting of N fertilizer setting in this experiment,the leaf area index of maize after silking was significantly lower than that of single cropping,and the trend of decreasing until later was not changed,that is,the leaf area index was not compensated.Under the same nitrogen application rate,the chlorophyll content of leave of ear position of maize was not changed due to intercropping.But the chlorophyll content was the same increased with the amount of nitrogen fertilizer as the single maize,which indicated the relative contribution of the fertilizer on leaf chlorophyll was significantly higher than that of intercropping.The net photosynthetic rate and transpiration rate of leave of ear position of maize in intercropping were significantly lower than that of maize in single cropping within the amounting of N fertilizer setting in this experiment.But the intercellular CO2 concentration leave of maize in intercropping was significantly higher than that of maize in single cropping.Appropriate amount of nitrogen fertilizer(150 kg/hm2)was beneficial to increase the transpiration rate and net photosynthetic rate of maize intercropping.The intercellular CO2 concentration of maize in intercropping increased to the peak with the increase of nitrogen application rate(300 kg/hm2).Under the application of any nitrogen fertilizer,in this experiment,intercropping maize did not change the ear length,bare top length,ear row number and grain number per row.But the 100-grain weight of maize in intercropping increased significantly,also it increased with the increase of nitrogen application,that is,the application of nitrogen fertilizer could further exploit the advantages of maize yield in intercropping.
