Today,diseases become one of the most important factors that hamper tomato production in China.Bacterial wilt,cancer in tomato,is especially popular in the Yangtze River basin and Southern China,and spreading to the Northern China.It has caused devastating damage to tomato production in China.Bacterial wilt is extremely difficult to control,and all kinds of traditional control measures have little effect.Proved by practice,it is the most effective way to control bacterial wilt by cultivating new tomato varieties with resistance to bacterial wilt and good comprehensive characters.In this study,we screened the original inbred lines resistant to bacterial wilt in our group,by using the traditional artificial inoculation with MAS,agronomic traits statistics,and field observations.We aimed to get some tomato inbred lines with good economic traits,strong and stable resistance to bacterial wilt and muti-resistance to diseases.Then,the selected inbred lines were used to create hybrid crosses with other inbred lines with good comprehensive traits.These crosses were involved in comparative test.We aimed to get some crosses with strong and stable resistance to bacterial wilt,and with muti-resistance to diseases,strong growth potential,good fruit shape,suitable for storage and transportation,and high yield,finally,to create new tomato cultivar.By analyzing the traits of crosses and their parents,it provides information for the future preparation of hybrids with resistance to bacterial wilt.The main results are as follows:1.Breeding of inbred lines: 27 inbred lines with good resistance to bacterial wilt are as materials in this study.we made them self-crossing for three generations and identified them by artificial inoculation,combining with detection of major resistance genes,agronomic traits statistics,and field observations.Then in combination with the traits of hybrid crosses in spring and autumn 2017,4 inbred lines,with strong resistance to bacterial wilt and good economic traits,were selected.In addition,another 10 inbred lines basically met the breeding requirements.2.Breeding of cross combinations: the selected inbred lines were used to create hybrid crosses with other inbred lines with good comprehensive traits.140 crosses were involved in comparative test in spring and autumn in 2017.By comprehensive inspection and analysis,finally,we got 9 crosses with stong resistance to bacterial wilt and excellent performance in disease resistance,growth potential,fruit shape,hardness,and yield.
