A drought sensitive cotton variety Shayang 505-3A was chosen for the experiment,and the plant height,stem diameter,leaf area and net photosynthesis rate?Pn?,stomatal conductance?Gs?,intercellular CO2 concentration?Ci?,transpiration rate?Tr?were measured after the plants inoculation with Piriformospora indica.The plant height,stem diameter,root parameters,leaf temperature,leaf reflectance and MDA content were collected after natural drought,15%and 20%PEG 6000 induced drought treatments.The results showed that the plant height,stem diameter,leaf area and photosynthetic rate increased significantly in the plants inoculated with Piriformospora indica;the amount of reduction of the plant height,stem diameter,biomass,pigment content,water content and the increase of total root length,total surface area,total root volume,leaf temperature and MDA content were significantly lower in the inoculated plants comparing to that of the non-inoculated plants.The results indicated that Piriformospora indica had a positive effect on promoting growth and improving the tolerance of drought stress of cotton.The effect of Piriformospora indica on cotton growth and salt tolerance was studied.The salt sensitive cotton variety Handan 8942 was chosen as the experiment materials.The data of plant height,stem diameter,leaf area,biomass and photosynthetic indexes?Pn,Gs,Ci,Tr?were collected after the plants co-cultivating with Piriformospora indica for 15 days and treatment of salt for 7 days.The results showed that the plant height,stem diameter,leaf area,dry weight,fresh weight and photosynthetic indexes inoculated with Piriformospora indica for 15 days were significantly higher than that of non-inoculated plants,and the effect of promoting growth was significant.The amount of reduction in plant height,stem diameter,leaf area,fresh and dry weight,and photosynthetic parameters of plants inoculated with Piriformospora indica were significantly lower than that of non-inoculated plants after treatment of different concentrations of salt for 7 days,which proved that Piriformospora indica had a positive effect on improving salt tolerance of cotton.
