With the continuous development of industrialization and urbanization, the pollution of heavy metals or metalloid is becoming more and more serious. When the amount of Cd、Hg、Pb、As and other heavy metals(metalloid)in the soil exceeds the carrying capacity of the environment,it will cause some damage to plants and insects. In this paper,Ostrinia furnacalis(Guenee)were fed with an artificial diet containing Hg2+and As3+at the corresponding LC255 concentration under laboratory conditions. The experiment setting of Hg2+,As3+,Hg2+-As3+mixed and blank control group 4 metal processing and O.furnacalis were continuous fed for three generations. The development and reproduction behaviors, calling behaviors of female moths and orientation behaviors of male moths to their conspecific calling females in three generations were observed by the system,in order to study the potential impacts of heavy metal(metalloid)Hg2+and As3+in polluted rice fields on development and reproduction of O.furnacalis.The result indicated that the development and reproduction of O.furnacalis are affected by the Hg2+and As3+.Female and male moths life were shorten by 0.6 d-1.7 d and0.8 d-1.4 d after O.furnacalis were fed with artificial diet containing Hg2+and As3+.As3+-treated had significant inhibitory effect on the development durations of O.furnacalis, the duration of male and female larvae were prolonged by 1.2 d-3.1 d and 1.0 d-3.0 d,and the female and male moths life were shortened by 0.4 d-1.1 d and 0.6d-1.7 d.Larvae duration of parental generation O.furnacalis was significantly inhibited by Hg2+-As3+,the duration of male and female larvae were prolonged by 3.4 d and 2.5 d.Female pupal weight was decreased and male pupal weight was increased, pupation rate and eclosion rate decreased, and the inhibition of As3+-treated on pupation rate was more than Hg2+and Hg2+-As3+treatment,respectively,after O.furnacalis were fed with artificial diet containing heavy metal(metalloid). Each generation heavy metal(metalloid)treatment group of oviposition and egg hatching rate were significantly lower than the control group, and the inhibition of oviposition and egg hatching rate was enhanced with the increase of generation. The result indicated that there had an inhibitory effects in parental generation and a positive effects in first filial generation and second filial generation on the females calling rate of O.furnacalis under Hg2+-treated and Hg2+-As3+-treated.However,the calling rate of parental generation O.furnacalis was no significant difference between the As3+treatment and control. While the calling rate of first filial generation was increased and the second filial generation was reduced after O.furnacalis fed with an artificial diet containing As3+.The time of mating peak in parental generation was delayed 1-3 hours under Hg2+treatments and Hg2+-As3+treatments.The peak calling time of the heavy metal(metalloid)treatments in the first filial generation was 2-6 hours in advance.Among them,Hg2+treatments group in scotophase 4 and As3+treatments group in scotophase 6 was earlier 6hours than the same scotophase control group. While the mating peak time of the second filial generation under different heavy metal(metalloid)treatments groups was postponed for 0.5-3.5 hours in scotophase 4 and scotophase 5,on the contrary, there were moved up for 1.5-3 hours in scotophase 3 and scotophase 6.The average calling duration of three heavy metal(metalloid)treatment groups was prolonged, and the third Scotophase of first filial generation was the most obvious, the average calling duration was extended by 1.76 h,2.11 h and 2.26 h,respectively. The result indicated that the male orientational behaviors of each generation O.furnacalis to its sex pheromones are controlled by the heavy metal(metalloid)Hg2+and As3+,and the inhibitory effect was reduced by generation. The percentages of parental generation of Hg2+concentrations’males and As3+concentrations’males near to sex pheromones were significantly lower than the blank. While the effect of Hg2+-treated and As3+-treated on the orientational behaviors of male moths was greater than the Hg2+-As3+treatment.The percentages of parental generation males and first filial generation males under different heavy metal(metalloid)treatments and As3+-treated males in the second filial generation landing to information source were significantly lower than the blank.Additionally, the response time of males to sex pheromones has been significantly prolonged under different heavy metal(metalloid)treatments and there were different changes with the increase of generation.Indicating that heavy metal(metalloid)Hg2+and As3+on the males to identify females sex pheromone produced some interference.
