Cultivation area of eggplant(Solanum melongena L.)expanded year by year in China, ranked after tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers. To provide theoretical and technical support for intensive and high-efficiency eggplant seedlings and the development of light supplement of the protected cultivation,LED which can accurately regulate light environment and ‘Gailiangdalong' eggplant were used to study the effects of white light(as control,CK),and combination light of red, blue and white(R/B/W=9/3/3,T1;R/B/W=9/3/8,T2;R/B/W=9/3/18,T3;R/B/W=9/3/48,T4)on the growth, root development, leaf structure, photosynthesis, carbon and nitrogen metabolism, quality and yield of eggplants to cultivating good eggplant seedlings. The main findings are as follows:1.R/B/W=9/3/8 treatment increased plant height, stem diameter, seedling index, plant dry weight, root volume, root surface area, total root length, root activity, root total absorption volume and specific surface area, and the seedling index was 261.5% higher than white light. The leaf area was second only to R/B/W=9/3/18.The percentage of root active absorption area was the highest under R/B/W=9/3/18 treatment. The root/shoot of R/B/W=9/3/3 was relatively higher than that of other treatments. After planting, the pre-production yield of the eggplant of R/B/W=9/3/8 treatment were the highest, which was 11.0% higher than white light.2.Leaf thickness, palisade tissue and sponge tissue thickness, leaf epidermis thickness, stomatal density, stomatal index of R/B/W=9/3/8 treatments were higher than those of other treatments. And under R/B/W=9/3/8 treatments, the chloroplast was slender, granule layer, cell membrane and cell wall were clear.Under R/B/W=9/3/3 treatments, the CTR was the most compact, the chloroplast was widened, the granule layer was clear, the cell membrane was intact, and there was eosinophilic phenomenon. The stomata opening degree was the highest under R/B/W=9/3/18,and the chloroplast was slender, and the granule layer was clear but less.3.The content of chlorophyll a and chlorophyll a+b,gas exchange parameters,RuBPcase activity,GADPH activity,LCP,Rd,LSP,Pmax,CCP,RuBPcase,Y(I),ETR(I)and the expression of phyA,rbcL,rbcS,psbA and LHCII in the leaves of R/B/W=9/3/8 were higher than those of other treatments; The expression of phyB and Y(NPQ)of R/B/W=9/3/3 was the highest.LED R/B/W=9/3/18 treatment increased the content of chlorophyll b,AQE,CE,Y(NO)and Y(NA)in the leaves of eggplant seedlings.Y(ND)was the highest under R/B/W=9/3/48 treatment?4.R/B/W=9/3/8 treatment increased total sugar, fructose, total nitrogen, free amino acid content and SPS,GDH,GOGAT activity in leaves was higher than those of other treatments,NR GS activity was second only to the R/B/W=9/3/3 treatment. The sucrose, starch, nitrate nitrogen,Under R/B/W=9/3/3,soluble protein content and SS,AMS were the highest.5.R/B/W=9/3/8 treatment increased the total phenolic, flavonoid and anthocyanin content, the red pigment, total polyphenols,DPPH free radical scavenging ability, total antioxidant capacity and pre-production of eggplant. The pre-production yield was 143.0% higher than white light. The yellow pigment of R/B/W=9/3/3 treatment was the highest.Soluble sugar, ascorbic acid, soluble protein, free amino acid, total phenol, flavonoids, total polyphenol content,DPPH free radical scavenging ability and total antioxidant capacity in eggplant pulps of R/B/W=9/3/8 treatment were higher than those of other treatments.Correlation analysis of eggplant quality showed that the antioxidant capacity of eggplant peels was significantly correlated with flavonoid content and total phenol content. The total antioxidant capacity of eggplant pulps was significantly correlated with total phenol and total polyphenol content.
