Taking Pinus tabulaeformis as an example to study the main afforestation tree species in the loess region of western Shanxi, this paper adopts the method of combining outdoor and indoor experiments, based on the methods of software simulation and mathematical analysis, and researches from three aspects:the simulation of root morphology of Pinus tabulaeformis, the root distribution characteristics under different depths of soil layer, the comparison of root distribution with the change trend of soil physical and chemical properties, and the influence relationship. The main research results are as follows:(1)It is high to study the feasibility and reliability of root morphology and distribution characteristics by Sketch up software to simulate root system, and it has certain practicability for the study of tree root system simulation.(2)The number of root system increased with the increase of chest diameter and tree height, but it was evenly distributed upward in all aspects, and there was a power function relationship between the length of the main root of Pinus tabulaeformis and the chest diameter and tree height, which were significantly correlated at the p<0.01 level.(3)The total root length and biomass increased gradually with the increase of the chest diameter and tree height of Pinus tabulaeformis, and most of the roots were concentrated in the 0-60cm soil layer, and the root length and total root organism of each layer increased first and then decreased with the deepening of soil depth.(4)The fractal dimension of Pinus tabulaeformis root system is different the more complex the root structure, the larger the fractal dimension, the fractal dimension of secondary lateral root is greater than the fractal dimension of primary lateral root, which shows that the spatial dominance of two lateral root is better than that of primary lateral root.(5)Soil physicochemical properties at different depths have effects on the vertical distribution of root cumulative length and biomass. The correlation between soil moisture content?soil bulk density and soil total nitrogen content on biomass is higher, and all in the p<0.001 level showed a significant correlation. It's shows a relative ratio that the correlation between soil moisture content?soil bulk density and soil total nitrogen content and on root cumulative length and biomass is closer than that of other factors on root biomass. Objective and significance:Taking Pinus tabulaeformis as an example to study the main afforestation tree species in the loess region of western Shanxi,by analyzing the distribution characteristics of root system and its relationship with soil physicochemical properties, the research results have certain realistic and theoretical guiding significance for the construction of local ecological environment.
