The Storage Quality Of Onion Seed Analysis And Control Of Critical Points

Seeds with good quality are the prerequisite to ensure orderly,strong and healthy seedlings and crops.If the storage of onion seeds is not up to standard,and the seeds lose their vitality,they will lose their value in production.The seeds quality affects all processes of seed production,storage and sales.After the physiological maturity,the onion seeds gradually age during the storage and finally lose the ability to germinate.Seed drying,impurity cleaning processes;seed storage conditions;seed packaging,marketing and transport processes are the factors influencing the quality of onion seeds.Onion seeds are hard to preserve under room temperature.If the seeds planters buy are left over,they are very likely to lose germinability and vigor within a year,which brings huge economic loss to planters and agricultural production.Therefore,it is necessary to improve the quality of seeds,the storage conditions,and prolong seeds longevity using drying and impurity techniques and appropriate equipment.It not only improves variety quality and sowing quality in agricultural production,but also plays significant roles in seed preservation of excellent agricultural varieties.This paper focuses on the influence of seed storage conditions on seed quality.In the storage process of onion seeds,the moisture content of onion seeds,the temperature and humidity of storage environment are three key factors affecting seed quality.First of all,reducing the moisture content of onion seeds is the first step to control the quality of onion seeds.Through machine drying and natural drying comparative experiments,the results of different drying methods on the onion seeds showed that both of the two methods can reduce the onion seeds moisture content below the standard level(8.0%).Natural drying method has larger batches and is more efficient to improve the quality of onion seeds storage.Stored under the same conditions after two years,the onion seeds of moisture content 8.0% still remain high germinability and percentage germination.Secondly,to find the best combination of temperature and humidity in seed storage warehouse is another measure to control the quality of onion seeds.The seed germination rate,conductivity and other indicators were tested at three different temperature and humidity treatments.It is further proved that the optimum storage temperature of onion seeds is 5°C,and the optimum storage relative humidity is 32-36%.Finally,the author compared and analyzed the germination rate and vigor value of onion seeds per year with different years of production.According to the prediction formula of seed longevity,the seed vigor of onion seeds with water content of about 8.0% decreased to 60% for 3-5 years.Based on the requirement in agriculture production,the shortest storage life of onion seeds is 3 years,and the longest storage life can reach 5 years.Deep understanding of the longevity of onion seeds and its influencing factors is beneficial to guide the enterprises to arrange and sell the onion seeds.One batch of onion seeds production should be better sold out within 3 years,so that the seed quality is guaranteed.
