N-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid(n-3PUFA)is an essential fatty acid for the human body.The production of functional animal products rich in n-3PUFA through dietary intervention is an effective way to increase the intake of n-3PUFA polyunsaturated fatty acid.Many studies have shown that adding flaxseed to the diet can increase the content of n-3PUFA in poultry products.In this study,Beijing You chicken,a unique local chicken breed,was taken as the research object,and the feasibility of feeding flaxseed to produce n-3PUFA-enriched poultry products was thoroughly discussed from flaxseed's effects on growth performance,meat quality,n-3PUFA deposition and flaxseed addition level and adding methodExperiment one: Effects of flaxseed on growth performance and deposition of n-3 PUFA of Beijing You chicken.The purpose of this experiment was to compare the effects of different flaxseed additions and feeding time on the growth performance,plasma biochemical,meat quality,and n-3PUFA deposition of Beijing You Chicken.The results showed that the addition of flaxseed increased to 10% had no negative effect on the growth performance and muscle quality of Beijing You chicken,and improved the liver function,and had certain regulation effect on lipid metabolism(P>0.05).Adding flaxseed significantly increased the content of n-3PUFA in chicken and reduced the ratio of n-6/ n-3PUFA(P<0.05).Compared with breast muscle,fatty acids were more likely to be deposited in thigh muscle,and the order of deposition of the three types of n-3PUFA was ALA> DHA> EPA.After 10 weeks of flaxseed feeding,the deposition of LC-n-3PUFA in breast and leg muscles reached a stable level.According to the regression analysis of the deposition of LC-n-3PUFA in chicken and the addition of flaxseed,the deposition of LC-n-3PUFA in chicken reached the highest level when the addition of flaxseed was 9%Experiment two: Effects of extruded flaxseed on growth performance and deposition of n-3PUFA of Beijing You chickenThe purpose of this experiment was to discuss the advantages of producing high-enriched n-3PUFA chicken by extruded flaxseed and flaxseed in different anounts.The results showed that the addition of extruded flaxseed to 15% had no significant effect on the growth performance,slaughter performance,muscle quality and lipid metabolism of Beijing You chickens(P>0.05).The deposition of ALA EPA DHA in the experimental group was significantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).However,there was no significant difference in each experiment groups.The addition of 15% extruded flaxseed did not significantly increase the deposition amount of n-3PUFA in chicken.For cost reasons,it was not recommended to use extruded flaxseed in production.Experiment three: Effects of flaxseed and VE on n-3PUFA deposition and antioxidant activity of Beijing You chickenThe purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of VE on growth performance,antioxidant activity and n-3PUFA deposition of Beijing You chicken.The results showed that the addition of 9%flaxseed and VE had no significant effect on growth performance,slaughter performance,musclequality and lipid metabolism of Beijing oil chicken(P>0.05),which promoted the weight gain of oil chicken and improved liver function.The activity of SOD in plasma and muscle was significantly decreased(P<0.05),and the plasma MDA was significantly increased(P<0.05),which reduced the antioxidant activity of the body to a certain extent.The addition of VE had no significant effect on the deposition of n-3PUFA in chicken(P>0.05).
