Camellia olefera,a unique edible oil tree species in China,is planted as an important economic tree species in southern China. It is also known as the four woody edible oil tree species in the world together with oil palm, olive and coconut. This study aims to solve the production problem of poor rooting of Camellia oleifera by using the cuttings of 'Huajin' as the material. The cutting experiments of different cutting periods were carried out to study the effect of ear type and cutting method on the rooting of Camellia oleifera cutting seedlings. It will provide a reference for the improvement of cutting seedling technology. The results of this experiment are as follows:(1)The rooting rate of cuttings of Camellia oleifera at different periods is different, and the survival rate of cuttings in summer is 73.77%,higher than 57.5%of autumn. The effect of cutting types on the rooting rate and rooting effect of Camellia oleifera is also different. When cuttings are cut in summer, the branch position and the amount of leaves remaining are the main factors affecting the rooting of the cutting. The rooting rate is higher with the combination of the middle of the branch, the retention of a whole leaf and the oblique cutting(double-sided oblique cutting). The amount of leaves remaining and the way of incisions are affected. The best combination is the middle of the branches, the retention of a whole leaf and the flat cut. When cutting in autumn, the branches, the amount of leaves and the cutting method have the same effect on the rooting ability and rooting effect of cuttings. The best combination is top branch, single leaf retention and double-sided oblique cutting.(2)When analyzing and comparing the physiological status of cuttings in each experimental group during the same cutting period,it was found that the main influencing factors for cuttings in summer and autumn were the location of the branches and the amount of leaves. When cutting in summer, the middle and lower branches showed better growth conditions, and the physiological status was the best when the amount of leaves remaining was a single leaf. Therefore,it was best to use a middle or basal branch to retain a single leaf. When cutting in autumn, the top shoots are better than the base shoots, and retaining single leaves is better than half leaves. Therefore,it is best to use top shoots and retain single leaves.(3)Combined with the influence of cutting type on rooting ability and cutting seedling quality, choosing the middle of the shoots and retain whole leaf is better for summer cuttings. The cutting treatment method can be selected according to different seedling needs. For autumn cuttings, the best combination is keeping the top branches,Retain single leaf and double side bevel.
