In this experiment,new variety of white clovers(Trifolium repens),Haifa white clover(Trifolium repens cv.haifa)and Riesling white clover(Trifolium repens cv.Riesling)were used as test materials.The comparison of the above varieties revealed the characteristics of the new variety of white clovers,and the physiological basis of the cold resistance of the leaves and roots of the new variety of white clovers was studied through indoor and field natural low temperature stress.The research results are as follows:1.The new variety of white clovers are rich in leaf volume,thin stem,thin petiole,and the leaves are of small leaf type.Its plant height,growth rate,regeneration,thousand-grain weight,and stem-to-leaf ratio are all smaller than the control.And its grass is delicate,high in chlorophyll and rich in nutrition.2.The overwintering rate of the new variety of white clovers are as high as 94.13%,significantly higher than that of the control variety(P<0.05),and the shorter the plant height,the thinner the stem,the smaller the leaves,and the higher the overwintering rate.3.Under indoor low temperature stress,The cold resistance rules of the leaves and roots are consistent.The cold resistance of the leaves and roots of the white clover material tested from strong to weak in order is new variety of white clovers>Haifa>Riesling.Soluble sugar is the most important index for identifying the cold resistance of the leaves and roots of the new white clover leaf strain,followed by soluble protein,superoxide dismutase,and relative conductivity.4.Under natural low temperature stress in the field,the order of the leaf and root cold resistance is slightly different.The order of cold resistance of white clover leaves is as follows:new variety of white clovers>Haifa white clover>Riesling white clover.The cold resistance of roots in order is:new variety of white clovers>Riesling white clover>Haifa white clover.Relative conductivity is the most important index for identifying the cold resistance of the new white clover leaves,followed by soluble sugar,soluble protein and superoxide dismutase.Free proline is the most important index for identifying the cold resistance of the new white clover root,followed by soluble sugar,soluble protein and relative conductivity.
