Wih the development of morden turf sports,an increasing number of competitions are held in Morden stadium. In order to improve the equality of the game and create an ideal condition for spectators, the design of the roof system is becoming a standard configuration of a morden stadium. The roof system helps to mitigate the bad effects of natural environment, but also increases the closure of the stadium and weakens the light condition. For improving the light condition, the Turf Growing Light System is gradually becoming a part of daily works of maintainence. There are 2 main problems during the usage of the light system:?1?Affected by the construction and position, there are differences among stadiums in the light condition on turf, but the current light-supplement plan is too simple to ignore the characteristics of light condition in stadium and decrease the efficiency.?2?Red and Blue light have been proved to be the most efficient light qualities for the growth of plant, and there are differences in the need of R/B ratio to different plants. There is not a certain R/B ratio has been reported to be suitable to the turfgrass so far,and the HPSL which doesn't have the most reasonable light quality and create a massive of heat is mainly being used in turf growing, which will reduce the efficient of light supplement and cause a higher power cost.?3?Sicentific suggestions lacked when making a light supplement plan. The object is to rationalize the usage of The Turf Growing Light System through determing the following questions:Part 1:The light characteristic of the turfgrass area in a typical morden stadium. The National Stadium? The Bird Nest?was chosen as an ideal research site, and the turfgrass area was divided into 16 plots.2-3 times monitoring were arranged in Spring,Summer and Winter with 3 DLI 100for each plot.Part 2:Effect of different ratio of red/blue light emitting diodes on growth and physiological characteristics of different species of turfgrass. The study was aimed at the characteristics of tiller?growth Rate?underground Biomass?malondialdehyde?MDA??hydrogen peroxide?H2O2??relative electrical conductivity?catalase?CAT??ascorbate peroxidase?APX??peroxidase?POD?of the three turfgrass species?L.perenne‘Monterey'No.3?F.arundinacea‘Crown'?Z.japonica‘Zenith'?that growed in 4 ratio of red/blue light:3:1?5:1,?7:1?9:1.Part 3:A theoretical light supplement plan was made for the Natioanl Stadium based on the result of Part 1 and 2.The result shows:?1?Affected by the construction and position, there are seasonal differences in the light condition on turf.In summer, the subsolar point moves to 23°26?N,there are more than95%turf area gains at least 35mol·m-2·d-1.In spring, the subsolar point moved to the equator, the DLI decreased compared with the light in summer, the DLI in northern turf is 2-7mol·m-2·d-1 higher than southern due to the limit caused by the roof system to the sunlight. In winter, the subsolar point moved to 23°26?S,the DLI was lowest within a year, and the difference of light condition among the 16 turf plots became most visiable——the DLI of southern part of turf was only the half of the northern part's.?2?The Red/Blue ratio of 7:1 could promote the develop of the above and underground part of three turfgrass, enhance the activity of enzyme,so the grass can grow in health.Too much red or blue light would cause a greater pressure as the turf grew slowly with no tiller, weaker tolerance, and higher MDA?H2O2?Relative Electrical Conductivity..?3?According to the light condition charicateristic of turf and the need of turf, the light supplement should be 0-5 mol·m-2·d-1 in summer,0-13 mol·m-2·d-1 in spring, and 2-28mol·m-2·d-1in winter. The Red/Blue ratio of 7:1 will be used.
