Ginseng is a precious Chinese medicinal material in China and one of the oldest traditional medicines. With the development of modern biology, medicine and chemistry, many new ways have been opened up to facilitate the research of ginseng. However, with the needs of society and the development of science, there are many problems in the source and quality of ginseng. In order to ensure the accuracy of the related scientific research results of ginseng, the analysis of the growth years of ginseng is of great significance. This thesis studies two types of ginseng with similar appearance: 7 years of growth,14 samples(4 years of garden ginseng,5 years of garden ginseng,15 years of forest ginseng,16 years of forest ginseng,17 years of forest ginseng, and 22 years of forest ginseng).Using white light confocal microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and atomic force microscopy to study on the imaging and characterization of ginseng samples in sequence,The best ginseng sample imaging technology and imaging parameters were determined through the imaging and characterization of ginseng samples.Based on the best ginseng sample imaging technology and imaging parameters,it is noted that there are certain correlations between the growth environment and the growth period of cork cells, parenchyma cells, and ducts during the growth of ginseng.Using the best imaging technology(scanning electron microscopy)to characterize the nano-images of ginseng cork cells, parenchyma cells, and ducts. With the obtained characterization results, the data of the three cell walls of ginseng cork cells, parenchyma cells, and ducts can be determined.Correlation analyses are performed between the obtained data and imaging using the average method and combining the information on the growth years of ginseng. The results have shown that the cell wall thickness of the cork layer will decrease with the increase of the growth period. It can also be analyzed to know whether the environment in which the ginseng is growing is relatively rainy or relatively dry.The interior cork cell wall of garden ginseng is relatively rough, while the interior thin-walled cell wall of forest ginseng is relatively smooth. As for the thickness of the thin-walled cell wall,it tends to decrease with the increase of the growth years, and the attachments on the thin-walled cell wall of garden ginseng and the surface roughness of starch grains are greater than the thin-walled cell wall of forest ginseng. In comparison, the thickness of duct wall decreases with the increase of the growth period. The duct wall of garden ginseng is relatively rough, while the duct wall of forest ginseng is relatively smooth. Therefore, the smoothness and roughness of cell walls are determined by the growth environment, and the thickness of the cell wall is related to the growth period.
