Study On Main Components And Active Substances On Codonopsis And Codonopsis Honey

As a natural health food,honey has been favored by consumers.But single-flower honey is difficult to obtain,and there are few studies on its active and functional ingredients.Codonopsis is mainly distributed in north,northeast and northwest China.In recent years,large-scale cultivation of codonopsis has been carried out in northwestern China,which make the acquisition of high-purity codonopsis honey possible.However,the quality of codonopsis honey in the market is uneven,and its health value is also lack of scientific evaluation.In this study,the composition of the basic components and active substances of codonopsis honey in Gansu and Xinjiang province were determined,which can provide a theoretical basis for the quality evaluation of pure codonopsis honey.The main contents and results are as follows:(1)The physicochemical indexes and enzyme activities of codonopsis honey and codonopsis pollen were determined,and total sugar,total protein and total saponin of codonopsis honey were measuredand compared with codonopsis.The results were as follows: The quality of codonopsis honeys in both regions meted the requirements of the national standard,and the starch enzyme and sucrose invertase content of Xinjiang codonopsis honey was much higher than that in Gansu codonopsis honey,indicating that Gansu codonopsis honey was not deeply ripened.The composition of the basic components of codonopsis honey in different regions was similar but the content varied greatly.(2)The sugar composition of codonopsis honey,codonopsis and codonopsis pollen polysaccharide s were compared,the results showed that: Codonopsis honey contained high levels of fructose and glucose,and the fructose content was higher than glucose.There was a similar trend of honey and codonopsis in the same cultivated region,but the sugar composition of honey and codonopsis was not relevant and could not be used as a theoretical basis for evaluating codonopsis honey.(3)Comparative study was conducted on the composition of the characteristic components and flavonoids of codonopsis,codonopsis honey and codonopsis pollen.The results were as follows: Codonopsis honey and codonopsis pollen contained a small amount of saponin and the total saponins of Gansu samples(8.03 ± 0.21 mg/g)were higher than the Xinjiang sample(7.19 ± 0.33 mg/g).Certain characteristic substances of codonopsis were detected in codonopsis honey,and the composition of flavonoids was different in different plant sources and regions.There was a certain relationship of active ingredients between codonopsis honey and codonopsis.(4)The antioxidant activity of codonopsis,codonopsis honey and codonopsis pollen was determined,and combining the correlation of total flavonoids,total phenolic acids and antioxidant activity was analyzed.The results were as follows: the content of phenolic substances,reducing power and free radical scavenging of codonopsis pollen was significantly higher than that of codonopsis and codonopsis honey.The pollen has strong antioxidant activity.The reducing power and free radical scavenging of codonopsis honey were stronger than those of other honey sources,indicating that codonopsis honey has strong antioxidant activity.Correlation analysis showed that phenolic acids and flavonoids were related to antioxidant activity,and Gansu samples had stronger antioxidant activity than Xinjiang samples.To sum up,the basic components of codonopsis honey in Gansu and Xinjiang province were the same,but the relative content was quite different.The sugar composition of codonopsis honey and codonopsis had little correlation the sugar composition had little correlation.The antioxidant activity of codonopsis honey was strong.The total saponins and antioxidant activities of purebred Gansu codonopsis honey were higher than wild Xinjiang codonopsis honey.It can be seen that the honey of codonopsis has a certain amount of functional ingredients as same as codonopsis,and can be used as health-care ingredients.
