Canine pyoderma, also known as canine bacterial folliculitis,is a canine skin infection caused by bacteria.Common pathogenic bacteria include Staphylococcus,Proteus,Escherichia coli, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. This disease is one of the common diseases in dogs.If it is found in time and treated appropriately,it could be cured quickly. If it is not treated correctly,it can easily cause the disease to worsen repeatedly. In severe cases,it develops into a systemic infectious disease and occasional deaths. With the economic and social development, more and more families have pet dogs. The function of dogs in the family has also changed, from the former housekeeping and nursing home to the current emotional companionship, and the relationship between people and dogs has become closer and closer. Most of the pathogenic bacteria that cause canine pyoderma are also common in humans and dogs, and the daily close contact between humans and dogs also provides these pathogens with opportunities to endanger human health. This study collected epidermal bacteria from 53 diagnosed and treated pyoderma dogs and 30 healthy dogs in many animal hospitals in Jiangsu Province,China from January 2019 to December 2019.The distribution of pathogenic bacteria and the carrying status of drug-resistant phenotypes, resistance genes and virulence genes of significant pathogens.(1)In this study,a total of 53 cases of pyoderma dogs from January 2018 to December 2019 in A of Jiangsu Province were collected.Furthermore, statistical information was collected to summarize the time of onset, sex, age, breed, and infection area.In summary, the top three dog breeds found to be morbidity are Labrador,Golden Retriever, and French Bulldog. The disease mostly occurs in May,June and July. The pyoderma dogs are mostly puppies under one year old,and they occur in the head, face, and abdomen.(2)Isolation and culture of bacteria from 30 healthy dogs skin and 53 pyoderma dogs infected area, and 16s rDNA method was used to detect the species of isolated bacteria.Healthy dogs isolated 7 strains of 4 species in total.A total of 60 strains of bacteria were isolated from pyoderma dogs,of which 7 cases were mixed infections. The highest isolation rate was Staphylococcus, and the highest proportion in Staphylococcus was Staphylococcus pseudointermediate.(3)The paper diffusion method was used for the drug sensitivity test of 18 isolated Pseudomonas staphylococcus stains. Moreover, the PCR method was used for detecting the drug resistance gene carrier in 18 strains. The isolates had the highest resistance rate to penicillins(55%),tetracyclines and macrolides(above 30%).They were sensitive to cephalosporins,?-lactam inhibitors, and amino sugars.Amines, amido alcohols, and quinolones are not resistant. All 18 isolates were detected to carry drug-resistant genes. The top three genes for carrier rate were aacA-aphD(55.6%),ermB(50%)and tetK(38.8%)?The emrA and tetMgenes were not detected in this study.(4)The PCR method was used to detect the virulence genes of 18 isolates Staphylococcus pseudointermediates strains. The carrying rate of iceA and icaD,the biofilm formation-related genes, was 5.6%and 55.6%,respectively.The carrying rates of the leukocidin-encoding genes luk-F and luk-S were 83.3%and 94%,respectively.The carrying rate of the enterotoxin seC and thermonuclease Nuc were 5.6% and 50%.The carrying rate of siet, expA and expB,the related genes with the exfoliating toxin, were 11.1%,22.2%and 38.8%.To sum up,this study investigated the canine pyoderma cases in Jiangsu Province and analyzed its etiology. We found out the incidence of canine pyoderma in Jiangsu Province, and the drug sensitivity, drug resistance genes and virulence genes of 18 isolated Staphylococcus pseudointermediate strains. The results provide a scientific basis for guiding the rational application of antibacterial drugs in the clinic and the prevention of this disease.
