Objective: To understand the general level of college students' body mass index(BMI)in Guilin, and to explore the relationship between birth weight, parental factors, environmental factors and college students' BMI.Methods: A retrospective study was carried out by using questionnaire.Subjects were randomly selected from September 2016 to March 2017,11766 students of Guilin Medical University and Guilin University of Technology. The questionnaire included students ' status(gender, age, birth weight, height weight, diet, exercise, etc.)and parents(height, weight, occupation, degree of education etc.).Grouped by birth weight, low birth weight(<2500g)as the exposure group1,high birth weight(?4000g)as the exposure group 2,normal birth weight(2500g-3999g)as the control group. The BMI was used as the outcome variable and the China Obesity working Group(WGCC)issued the BMI classification standard as the measure index. Results: 11766 questionnaires were sent out in this study. After eliminating invalid questionnaires and missing information questionnaires,8587 valid questionnaires with an effective rate of 72.98% were obtained,of which 2576 were underweight(30.0%)and 384 were overweight and obese(4.47%).In exposure group 1,the underweight rate was 36.7% andthe overweight and obesity rate was 4.30%.In the exposure group 2,the underweight rate was 20.0% and the overweight and obesity rate was 9.4%.Logistic regression analysis showed that high birth weight was associated with college students overweight and obesity.Compared with normal birth weight, high birth weight significantly increased the risk of college students overweight and obesity(RR=2.14,95% CI=1.55~2.95,P<0.001).Low birth weight was associated with college students underweight.Compared with the normal birth weight, low birth weight significantly increased the risk of college students underweight(RR=1.38,95% CI=1.21~1.59,P<0.001).After adjusting for gender, age, feeding style and Pregnancy time, there was still significant correlation(P<0.05).Taking 2500g~ birth weight group as reference group, with birth weight increasing, the risk of underweight decreased gradually, and the risk of overweight and obesity increased gradually(P<0.05).Multivariate conditional logistic regression analysis showed that the risk factors of college students being underweight included low birth weight(OR=1.30),female(OR=2.42),underweight father(OR=1.57),underweight mother(OR=1.70),choosy in food(OR=1.85)and occasionally or not exercise(OR=1.19);protective factors included High birth weight(OR=0.78),overweight and obesity father(OR=0.64),overweight and obesity mother((OR=0.85),eating fast(OR=0.50)and eating normal(0R=0.71).The risk factors of college students being overweight and obese included high birth weight(OR=1.51),overweight and obesity father(OR=1.96)and eating fast(OR=2.55),protective factors included female(OR=0.44)and occasionally or not eating fruit(OR=0.69).Conclusion: Birth weight is associated with body mass index(BMI)of college students.High birth weight is the risk factor of overweight and obesity, low birth weight is the risk factor of underweight. The poor outcome ofBMI should be prevented from the fetal stage, and the corresponding prevention measures are taken in combination with sex, parents' BMI,and the way of eating and exercise.
