The post-stroke spasticity as one component of the upper motor neuron syndrome has increased worldwide in the past two decades. The research on motor function rehabilitation method for lower limb post-stroke survivors has a very high clinical value.Currently, functional electrical stimulation(FES)is one of the most effective interferences methods in some dominant rehabilitation methods. However,it still has several problems on the choice of stimulation point, triggering time, stimulation modes, stimulation intensity, and muscle fatigue caused by stimulation. Therefore, the lower limb motor function rehabilitation method based on gait analysis has a great significance for post-stroke survivors.Among research of the lower limb motor function rehabilitation method based on electrical stimulation, the designing and optimization for electrode and electrical stimulation system are needed to be solved. On the other hand, the parameters about triggering time, stimulation intensity and location of stimulation could be accurately controlled rely on the gait analysis. In this paper, the work of the gait analysis covers two aspects, temporal characteristics and biomechanical characteristics.1)Analysis of the temporal characteristics of gait could help us control the triggering time of electrical stimulation and the duration during the study of electrical stimulation methods. In this paper, gait events and gait phase were detected based on a single acceleration sensor. At the same time,a detection algorithm based on the characteristics of differential composite acceleration curves has been proposed.According to the result, the accuracy of the proposed method of gait phase detection was about 100% in comparison with the reference method2)Then,the musculoskeletal modeling software named OpenSim was used in this paper to establish the walking model of lower extremity. And the characteristics of joint torque and muscle force have been analyzed. The result suggested that there was coordination among muscles of lower limb during walking and activities of the muscle followed a certain rule along time. Therefore,in the study of electrical stimulation rehabilitation method,we could analyze the difference of muscle characteristics between patients and normal through musculoskeletal modeling. Then,we could find the abnormal muscles and propose a targeted treatment scheme for rehabilitation.Additionally,to solve the problem in which the choice of stimulus points and placement of electrodes is difficult,an electrical stimulation system based on electrodes array was developed in this study. The result indicated that the optimal stimulation point was accurately searched relied on this the array electrical stimulation system. Moreover, different electrical stimulation methods were also studied in this work. The test result showed that the muscle contraction caused by the asynchronous electrical stimulation based on combination of electrodes was better than that based on single electrode. With the advantage of reducing muscle fatigue, asynchronous stimulation could be one of the effective method to solve the problem of muscle fatigue caused by stimulation.
