| East Asia owns a high incidence of gastric cancer in the world,and more than half of the global gastric cancer patients are concentrated in East Asia,especially in China.Gastric cancer is more prone to develop ovary metastasis than other original malignancies.Therefore,the cases of ovarian metastasis in China are much more than that in the western countries.Either synchronic or heterochronic ovarian metastasis,it means that the disease enters into the terminal stage.Most of these patients are young and before the menopause,and the patients with synchronic ovarian metastases are younger and have poorer prognosis.At present,there is no consensus on the mechanism of the ovarian metastasis of gastric cancer,and it is generally believed that the lymphatic metastasis is more likely.If the patient does not show some obvious symptoms in the stomach,the patients will seek medical service for the symptoms caused by ovarian metastasis.Tumor markers in the blood cannot be used to identify malignant tumors and metastatic tumors in ovarian metastasis.The ovarian metastasis of gastric cancer is usually bilaterally involved.The size of ovarian metastasis of gastric cancer is different and the average diameter is about 9-10 cm.The peritoneal metastasis rate of this disease is found high in the operation.The prognosis of ovarian metastasis of gastric cancer is very poor.The median overall survival(OS)is about 1 year,while the prognosis of patients with simultaneous ovarian metastasis is worse.At present,there are no standards for the treatment of ovarian metastasis in patients with gastric cancer,but the radical treatment is feasible for the heterochronic ovarian metastasis.It is still controversial whether surgical treatment is suitable to be performed for simultaneous metastasis.Adjuvant chemotherapy is generally believed to improve the patients’ OS.Because it is found that there is a high incidence of extensive metastasis in other abdominal organs,hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy(HIPEC)is considered to have certain effect.However,these conclusions need to be confirmed by further studies. |
