Thoracolumbar kyphosis is a severe spinal disease in clinical.The main method to treat this disease is osteotomy.Because of the posterior osteotomy has obvious advantages compared with the anterior osteotomy and the anterior combined posterior osteotomy,we mainly use the Smith-Petersen posterior osteotomy(SPO),the pedicle subtraction osteotomy(PSO),the posterior vertebral column resection(PVCR)and a variety of osteotomy based on these methods to correct the thoracolumbar kyphosis.This article mainly introduces the etiology and the clinical manifestation of thoracolumbar kyphosis,the basic methods,the indications,the advantages and disadvantages of all kinds of the posterior osteotomy.
