Objective To investigate the effect of unilateral salpingectomy on ovarian reserve and ovarian response to superovulation in patients with ectopic pregnancy. Methods The patients who received IVF-ET after unilateral salpingectomy were selected as the surgical group(n=53).The patients who received IVF-ET without tubal surgery were the controls(n=66).Analysis of ovarian reserve in patients with anti-Mullerian hormone(AMH),antral follicle count(AFC),serum basal sex hormone levels(FSH,LH,E2),ovarian response to superovulation(Gn dosage, days of Gn usage,Endometrial thickness on HCG day,E2 peak level, number of oocytes retrieved). Results Compared with the control group, the AMH level in the surgery group significantly decreased(P<0.05),and there was no significant difference in the FSH,LH,E2(both P>0.05).Fifty-three patients in the surgical group had a significant decrease in the number of AFC on the operated side compared with non-surgical side(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the average diameter of the ovaries(P>0.05).Compared with the control group, there was no significant difference in Gn dosage, days of Gn usage,Endometrial thickness on HCG day,E2 peak level, number of oocytes retrieved between the surgery group and the control group(both P>0.05).The length of postoperative unilateral salpingectomy did not correlate with AMH levels. Conclusion Unilateral salpingectomy could lead to a decrease in ovarian reserve, but has no effect on ovarian response to superovulation.
