Chronic kidney disease(CKD)is a worldwide public health problem,It is now accepted that the prevalence of CKD is 10.8% in adults in China.And people with CKD is at high risk for mortality.Cardiovascular disease(CVD)is the common cause of mortality in individuals with CKD.Furthermore,when vascular calcification(VC)is present,the risk for CVD is increased.In this review,we discuss the epidemiology,pathology,associated risk factors,and pathogenesis of vascular calcification in CKD,hoping to provide new ideas for the prevention and treatment of vascular calcification.
