| ObjectiveTo compare the analgetic effect of intercostal nerve block(INB)with that of thoracic paravertebral block(TPVB)in patients who undergo video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery(VATS)lung resection.MethodsTotally eighty patients who underwent VATS lung resection were randomly allocated into two groups.Patients in group A(n=40)received INB with 0.75% ropivacaine combined with triamcinolone acetonide during operation,while the group B(n=40)received TPVB with the same drugs.The time of INB and TPVB was measured,respectively.Visual analogue scale(VAS)score was recorded at 2h,8h,24 h,36h,48 h and 72 h after surgery,respectively.At the same time,The incidence of postoperative complications such as pneumonia,atelectasia as well as arrhythmia were observed.ResultsIn group B,5 cases were excluded because of unsuccessful operation or complication,and the other 35 cases were admitted to the group finally.The patients in both groups were satisfaction with the pain management strategies.The insignificant difference in the subjective pain relief between the groups was observed at all time points(P>0.05).The postoperative complications in group A was not different from that in group B.However,less time has been expended on group A(3.00±0.91 minutes)than that on group B(9.69±1.82 minutes)(P<0.01).ConclusionAnalgetic effect of both the INB and TPVB group on patients undergoing VATS lung resection is conformable.The INB is superiority to TPVB because of short puncture time and less complications. |
