Background:PetC02 is a test for exhaled breath components, which can reflect the degree of dioxide retention in patients with COPD.The current study related with PetC02,all uses it as a non-invasive alternative scheme to PaC02.Our study indicates that the difference between PaC02 and PetC02 can reflect the patient's dead space ventilation. The exploration of correlation between the clinical outcomes of Pa-etC02 and AECOPD patients has not been reported in the literature, and its specific reference range is not yet clear. Objective:To analyze the significance of Pa-etC02 as a predictor of clinical outcome in patients with AECOPD by comparing PetC02,PaC02,and Pa-etC02 in patients with AECOPD.Methods:To retrospectively analyze PetC02,PaC02,Pa-etC02 of 131 patients with AECOPD that is divided into groups according to the clinical outcomes, and to conduct the statistical comparison. Results:The mean value of Pa-etC02 in 69 patients with negative clinical outcome was-6.87±0.75 mmHg,95%confidence interval[-8.36-5.37];the mean value of Pa-etC02 in 62 patients with positive clinical outcome was 6.48±1.10 mmHg,95%confidence interval[4.27 8.70],F<0.05,P=0.00.Conclusion:Under the condition of PaC02>39.46 mmHg,4.27<Pa-etC02<8.70 is a sign of poor clinical outcome in patients with AECOPD.
