Clinical Application Of 3.0T HRMRI Analysis On Carotid Plaque Composition

Objective:Use head and neck coil(C Spine+Neck 24)through 3.0T High Resolution Magnetic Resonance Imaging(HRMRI)scanner to scan extracranial carotid artery plaque,analysis plaque components,and determine vulnerability of plaque.Compare above result to pathology for consistency and conformity degree.Methods:Selected 10 patients with 50%-99% carotid stenosis caused by plaques from May2017 to November 2017 hospitalized patients.Inject Gadodiamide to contrast the Magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)scan image.Import the image into the carotid artery plaque imaging analysis software(scanning software source: Beijing Qingying Huakang Co.Ltd;picture technical guidance team: Tsinghua Center for Bio-Medical Imaging Research).Results:In the left carotid artery,there were 2 IV type plaques,2 V type plaques,4 VI type plaques and 2 VII type plaques.The right carotid artery was divided into 4 types: IV type,VI type in 4,and no plaque in 2.There were 8 carotid arteries with vulnerable plaques in10 carotid arteries(80%),1(10%)carotid arteries with stable plaques,and 1 carotid plaques without plaques.HRMRI carotid plaque composition results showed consistency with no significant.Lumen micrometer measurement of carotid artery plaque and the corresponding pipe measurement results showed no significant differences between the wall area and HRMRI pathological section under microscope.Conclusion:3.0T HRMRI scanner has the ability to detail analyze the composition,morphology,and rate of stenosis of extracranial carotid plaque.The analysis provides carotid artery stenosis,plaque morphology description,and to determine the nature of luminal stenosis description.
