Clinical Observation Of Chinese Herbal Fumigation Combined With Exercise Therapy In The Treatment Of Muscle Spasm After Stroke

【Objective】To compare the clinical effect of Chinese herbal fumigation combined with exercise therapy and simple exercise therapy in the treatment of muscle spasm after stroke and to futher explore the role of Chinese herbal fumigation in the antispasm.To provide a simple and effective treatment plan for the clinical treatment of muscle spasm.【Methods】This study collected 40 patients with muscle spasm after stroke,who were treated in the department of rehabilitation medicine of the first affiliated hospital of Bengbu Medical College from December 2014 to December 2015.According the time of treatment,the patients were randomly divided into experimental group and control group with 20 cases in each group.Both groups were treated with exercise therapy,45 minutes a day for 20 days.On the basis of exercise therapy,the experimental group was added with Chinese herbal fumigation therapy,20 minutes a day for 20 days.The efficacy was evaluated by accessing the modified Ashworth scale,Visual pain score,Fugl-Myer scal and modified Bathel index.All statistical analyses were performed by using SPSS 17.0 software.【Results】1、There is no statistical difference before treatment in gendar,age,disease duration and values of MAS,VAS,FMI,MBI(P>0.05)between experimental group and control group,with comparability.2、Control group: The MAS value of upper limb was 1.65±0.46 before treatmentand 1.48±0.26 after treatment.The MAS value of lower limb was 1.58±0.34 before treatment and 1.38±0.22 after treatment.The VAS value was 3.70±2.32 before treatment and 2.40±1.88 after treatment.The FMA value was 29.20±18.76 before treatment and 43.60±17.57 after treatment.The MBI value was 39.50±14.23 before treatment and 54.25±14.89 after treatment.There were significantly stastical differences for pretreatment and posttreatment in the value of upper limb MAS(P<0.05)and in the value of lower limb MAS、VAS、FMA、MBI(P<0.01).3、Experimental group: The MAS value of upper limb was 1.85±0.52 before treatment and 1.28±0.34 after treatment.The MAS value of lower limb was1.73±0.26 before treatment and 1.18±0.24 after treatment.The VAS value was3.40±2.87 before treatment and 1.35±1.31 after treatment.The FMA value was30.05±17.58 before treatment and 64.55±17.30 after treatment.The MBI value was39.00±12.52 before treatment and 68.00±13.22 after treatment.There were significantly stastical differences for pretreatment and posttreatment in the value of upper limb MAS、lower limb MAS、VAS、FMA、MBI(P<0.01).4、After the end of treatment,there were significant differences between the two groups in the value of upper limb MAS,lower limb MAS,VAS(P<0.05)and in the value of FMA,MBI(P<0.01).【Conclusion】Both simple exercise therapy and Chinese herbal fumigation combinded with exercise therapy can effectively improve the patients’ condition of muscle spsam,futher alleviate the pain of patients and improve the patients’ motor function and abilities of daily life.The effect of Chinese herbal fumigation combinded with exercise therapy is more well than exercise therapy,and it is said that Chinese herbal fumigation can enhance the antispasm effect of exercise therapy.
