Objective:This study is to research the correlation between skeletal discrepancy in sagittal plane and cervical posture in sagittal plane. Methods:According to the inclusion criteria and exclusion criteria of this experiment,103 lateral cephalometric radiographs of patients aged between 6 and 18 in Orthodontic Department of Shandong oral hospital from 2016 to 2017 are screened, including 51 males and 52 females.Measure the indicators representing the sagittal development of the maxilla, the indicators representing the vertical development of the jaw bone and the indicators representing the cervical spine posture and analysis of them. The difference of head and neck postures in male and female are compared.According to the sagittal skeletal relationship, the subjects are divided into three groups:skeletal Class I group, skeletal Class II group and skeletal Class III group. The correlation between cervical vertebra variables and jaw bone are analyzed. The difference of head and neck postures variables in different bone samples are compared.Results:1.Cervical posture variables SN-OPT and SN-CVT both have a significant correlation with jaw variables SNA,SNB,Y-axis,NA-PA and B-VER of malocclusions among three different skeletal patterns(p<0.05);cervical curvature OPT-CVT has a significant correlation with jaw variables Y-axis(p<0.05).2.The indicators representing the inclination of the cervical spine SN-OPT,SN-CVT and the indicators representing the curvature of the cervical spine OPT-CVT all have no significant difference in statistics among the skeletal Class ?,Class ? and Class ?(p>0.05);but the average values of SN-OPT and SN-CVT are both maximum in skeletal Class ?,minimum in skeletal Class ?,and center in skeletal Class ?.Conclusions:1.During the period of puberty, there is a certain correlation between cervical posture and craniofacial morphology.Different cervical postures have something with sagittal growth of maxilla and mandible.2.Craniofacial angle which representing cerviacal spine inclination and neck lobes representing cervical curvature are both maximum in skeletal Class ?,minimum in skeletal Class ?,and middle in skeletal ?.It is suggested that during the period of puberty, there are certain differences in head and neck postures of malocclusions among three different skeletal patterns.3.It is suggested that when clinicians diagnose and treat patients with dysplasia of sagittal development, they should pay close attention to the natural head position and cervical posture.Through early intervention to improve their bad head and neck posture is propitious to long-term stability for the treatment and correction of malocclusion.
