Clinical Case Reports Of The Application Of The Individual Tray Impressions With Reserved Space By Wax Tablets For Complete Denture Prosthodontics

Objective: Using the red impression compound individual tray with reserved space for wax sheet to make the final impression,and observe the clinical effect of the complete denture prosthodontics,to provide a reference method for making the individual tray in clinic.Methods: Select 22 patients(7male 、 15 female 、 age68 to 84)who treated in prosthodontic department of DaLian Medical University Affiliated Dental Hospital from 2015.10 to 2017.10,including 11 cases of complete denture,6 cases of maxillary single complete denture and 5 cases of mandibular single complete denture,all patients were conformed to the standards.First,choosing the appropriate edentulous jaw impression tray,then push the double wax sheet(2 ~ 3mm thick)on the tissue surface of the tray after the wax becoming soft,and adjusting edge of the wax、shape recontouring,at last the wax covering the alveolar ridge and contact closely with mucosa.Separating the wax from the tray,put soften red impression compound on the tray,then place the wax on the surface of soften impression compound.Put both of them into the mouth at the same time,we can get the wax-compound impression after border trimming.Respectively keeping 4 positioning wax sheet(4*12mm)on the tissue surface of the maxillary and the mandibular,their space is same,remove the remaining wax and form the final red impression compound individual tray.Making the final impression with alginate,evaluate standard of the final impression: clear and intact、without bubble、without demould、all positioning wax sheet show uniformly.Pouring cast、denture making 、 try-in.Wearing the denture for 3~30 days,then evaluating the standard ofdenture prosthedontics effect from all the aspects of retention、comfort、aesthetics、mastication and pronunciation by the patients’ objective feeling.Results: 22 cases of the final impression which using the red impression compound individual tray with reserved space for wax sheet are clear and intact,meet a criterion.The survey results of wearing denture for 3~30 days: 21 cases obtain good denture retention;1 case of maxillary complete denture obtain good retention,but the rentention of mandibular complete denture is not good enough because of serious alveolar resorption,the degree of satisfaction is 95.45%;2 cases masticatory function is not good,the degree of satisfaction is 90.91%;2 cases have obvious foreign body sensation,the degree of satisfaction is 90.91%;all of the patients and their family members feel major improvement in appearance,the degree of satisfaction is 100%.During the survey period,the most of patients have no obvious pain or uncomfortable,the overall satisfaction is 93.64%.Conclusion:The method of making individual tray has better suitability between the base plate and the mucosa,supporting area stressed uniformly,increasing retention and masticatory function,relieving the pain of wearing denture,increasing success rate of complete denture prosthedontics.
