Objective: The expression and clinical significance of the Nav1.5 protein in different clinical stages of nasopharyngeal carcinoma tissue was discussed in this study. Methods: Immunohistochemistry(IHC)was applied to detect the expression level of Nav1.5 in 43 cases of nasopharyngeal carcinoma and 5 cases of nasopharyngitis, and its relationship with clinicopathological features and prognosis was analyzed. Results:Expression of Nav1.5 protein in different clinical stages of nasopharyngeal tissues was found,The expression level of Nav1.5 protein in nasopharyngeal carcinoma was significantly higher than that of nasopharyngitis(P=0.005).The expression level of Nav1.5 protein of the nasopharyngeal carcinoma tissue was significantly higher in distant organ metastasis than in non-distant organs metastasis(P=0.015).it was significantly lower in Early stage(?-?)than middle-late(?-?)(P=0.032).The expression level of Nav1.5 and TNM staging of nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients were significantly positively correlated with T and M stages(P< 0.05),respectively.However,it was not related to N stage(P> 0.05).The survival analysis indicated that the overall survival rate of patients was lower in high expression of Nav1.5 of nasopharyngeal carcinoma than those low expression(P = 0.011).Single factor analysis showed that the level of Nav1.5 expression and distant organ metastasis were the potential prognostic risk factors for nasopharyngeal carcinoma(P< 0.05).Multifactor analysis showed that distant organ metastasis was an independent risk factor for the prognosis of patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma(P = 0.002).Conclusion:The expression of Nav1.5 in nasopharyngeal carcinoma was significantly higher than that in nasopharyngitis, and the level of Nav1.5 expression of nasopharyngeal carcinoma was positively correlated with T stage and M stage in nasopharyngeal carcinoma.Higher expression of Nav1.5 has a poor prognostic than lower expression of Nav1.5 in patients with NPC,which suggested that Nav1.5 may be a potential prognostic factor in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
