| The human Klotho gene is spanning about 50 kb and located on chromosome 13q12.The Klotho gene is implicated in a variety of physiological activities,including aging,glucose metabolism,and phosphate and calcium metabolism.In recent years,it has been found that many cellular activities involved in the Klotho gene and its polymorphism are closely related to the occurrence and development of tumors.Studies have shown that Klotho gene expression is reduced in most tumors,such as breast cancer,lung cancer,cervical cancer,etc.,and in breast cancer,prostate cancer,pancreatic cancer and other tumors showed genetic polymorphisms,can be used as a prognosis of tumor disease independent risk factors.Klotho gene expression decreased,mainly with the promoter hypermethylation and histone deacetylation are closely related.The Klotho gene expression level and its polymorphism have important value in the evaluation of tumor prognosis.The study of the Klotho gene and its mechanism of action and the development of related drug will be of great value in the diagnosis and treatment of tumors. |
