| Gastric cancer is one of the common malignant tumors for digestive system.Gastric cancer was the fifth most common cancer worldwide and the third leading cause of cancer-related mortality in 2012.Although the incidence of gastric cancer has been substantially declining during the past decades,it remains a high incidence in Asia,especially in China,and the severe disease burden makes it one of the major diseases that endanger the health of Chinese people.Gastric cancer is a highly heterogeneous tumor,which makes it particularly difficult to treat.In China,because gastric cancer patients are generally diagnosed at a rather advanced stage,they have lost surgical opportunities.The traditional radiotherapy and chemotherapy have curative effects,but it seems to have entered the bottleneck stage.In recent years,the immunotherapy has made great breakthroughs and excellent results in the treatment of malignant tumors and the FDA has approved multiple immune-related drugs for the treatment of a various of malignancies.In December 2013,Science Magazine classified tumor immunotherapy as the top ten scientific breakthroughs.The immunotherapies such as cytokines,tumor vaccine,adoptive cellular immunity and immune checkpoint regulation have exhibited a promising prospect.Immunotherapy has been playing an important role in the comprehensive therapy for gastric cancer,but it also faces many challenges and the road to research is still long. |
