ObjectiveThe objective of this study was to observe the changes of VAS score,JOA score and cervical spine mobility of the patients with cervical spondylotic radiculopathy before and after treatment by massage combined with mckenzie therapy and massage therapy,to prove the clinical value of massage combined with mckenzie therapy in the treatment of cervical spondylotic radiculopathy, and to provide a theoretical basis for the treatment of cervical spondylotic radiculopathy by massage combined with modern rehabilitation therapy and guide patients to master a simple, scientific kinesitherapy.Methods60 cases of cervical spondylotic radiculopathy were divided into two groups by the table of random number,30 cases in control group were treated with massage alone,30 cases in test group were treated with massage combined with mckenzie therapy. The changes of VAS score,JOA score and cervical spine mobility were recorded before and after treatment, and the final conclusion was reached through scientific statistical analysis.Results1.Baseline AnalysisBefore treatment, there were no significant differences in gender, age, course of disease,VAS score,JOA score and cervical spine mobility between the two groups(P﹥0.05).2.Results Analysis after Treatment2.1 Comparison of VAS scoresAt the end of treatment, the scores of VAS in both groups after treatment were significantly lower than those before treatment(P < 0.01),suggesting that the two treatment regimens can alleviate the pain of patients. At the end of treatment, there were significant statistical differences in VAS scores between the two groups(P < 0.01).The curative effect of the Test Group was better than that of the control group.2.2 Comparison of JOA scoresAt the end of treatment, the scores of JOA in both groups after treatment were significantly higher than those before treatment(P < 0.01),which suggested that both treatments could improve the symptoms of the patients. At the end of treatment, there was a statistical difference between the two groups(P < 0.05),which suggested that the test group was better than the control group in improving patients’ symptoms.2.3 Comparison of cervical spine mobilityAt the end of treatment, there was significant statistical differences in all directions in the Intra-group comparison of test groups. And,there was significant statistical differences in all directions in the Intra-group comparison of control groups(P < 0.01),except the direction of left flexion(P < 0.05).These results suggest that both treatments can improve the range of motion of the cervical spine. At the end of treatment, there was no statistical difference in the flexion direction between the test group and the Control group(P >0.05),but there was statistical differences in the other directions(P < 0.05).On the whole, the treatment regimen of the test group was better than that of the control group.2.4 Adverse eventsDuring the clinical observation of 60 patients who met the inclusion criteria,no adverse events occurred, the therapy was safe and reliable.ConclusionIn this study,we observed the changes of VAS score,JOA score and cervical range of motion in patients with radiculopathy treated with massage and massage combined with mckenzie therapy,we have the following conclusions.1.Both the test group and the control group can improve the patients’ neck pain, however the curative effect of test group was better than that of control group.2.Both the test group and the control group could improve the clinical symptoms of the patients, the curative effect of test group was better than that of control group.3.Both the test group and the control group were able to improve the mobility of the cervical spine. There was no statistical difference in the flexion direction between the test group and the Control group(P> 0.05),but there was statistical differences in the other directions(P < 0.05),the curative effect of test group was better than that of control group. In conclusion, massage combined with mckenzie therapy is superior in reduce pain, improve symptoms and improve cervical mobility. The combination of massage and rehabilitation can improve the clinical curative effect,in addition,a scientific self-exercise therapy can be promoted.
