| ObjectiveTo investigate the clinical features and sonographic characteristics in cases of placental site trophoblastic tumor(PSTT).MethodsSeventy-three cases of PSTT were identified at the Peking Union Medical College Hospital between January 1998 and November 2017,and the clinical features and findings on ultrasound were investigated.ResultsThe most frequent symptoms associated with PSTT were abnormal vaginal bleeding, which was present in 56 cases, and amenorrhea, which was present in 21 cases. The interval from antecedent pregnancy to diagnosis was 0-276(median,6)months.The serum level of β-human chorionic gonadotropin(β-hCG)was generally low, with a median of 246.0 IU/L(range,0-46115IU/L).The findings on ultrasound were classified according to the location of the lesions.Type Ⅰ,lesions located in the uterine cavity(13 cases with solid mass,7 cases with alveolate mass,1 case with cystic lesions);Type Ⅱ,lesions located both within the uterine cavity and myometrium(2 cases with alveolate mass);Type Ⅲ,lesions located in the myometrium(12 cases with solid mass,9 case with alveolate mass,5 cases with cystic lesions). The solid masses presented with minimal to a high degree of vascularization. Both the alveolate and cystic lesions were almost highly vascularized.ConclusionsCombined with clinical features, the findings on ultrasound could lead to the suspicion of PSTT and contribute to clinical diagnosis. |
