Objective:To investigate the feasibility of replacing blood sampling through vessel with hemodialysis catheter for monitoring ionized calcium during continuous renal replacement therapy(CRRT)using regional citrate anticoagulation(RCA).In order that wounds and sufferings caused by frequent blood sampling could be reduced during blood purification in critical patients. Methods:This self-control designed study included 120 critically ill patients in intensive care unit receiving CRRT using RCA.Patients were divided into two groups based on whether use Ci-Ca machine. In the first group we simultaneously blood sampling from vessel and catheter,in the second group we simultaneously blood sampling from arterial part of the Ci-Ca catheter and arterial intubation. Then beside blood gas analysis were carried out to acquire the ionized calcium. The difference of the two methods was compared. Results:When comparing calcium results these two methods there were no statistical significance(p>0.05).Conclusion:Conclusion one:During CRRT using RCA,blood sampling through hemodialysis catheter could replace vessel blood sampling for ionized calcium measurement, avoiding arterial blood sampling induced technical complications, reducing the workload of nurses, can be popularized in primary hospitals. Conclusion two:During CRRT using RCA,Blood sampling through Ci-Ca catheter could replace blood sampling through arterial intubation, avoiding arterial catheter placement induced complications, reducing the workload of nurses.
