Objective:We aimed to observe the correlation between vitamin D levels with plasma aldosterone concentration in PA patients and compared vitamin D levels primary aldosteronism(PA)patients with non-primary aldosteronism(non-PA)patients.Methods:In total 309 consecutive hypertensive patients whom highly suspected PA enrolled in this study. All patients were screened for PA with aldosterone-to-renin ratio(ARR).In those who had positive results, confirmatory test was performed.PA patients were asked to be performed adrenal CT in order to identify adrenal lesions.Among them131 patients diagnosed PA and 178 patients considered non-PA.Results:The prevalence of vitamin D deficiency was very common all subjects in this study, mean values of16.42±7.44 ng/ml,about 69.6%subjects had vitamin D deficiency(25(OH)D<20ng/mL).The prevalence of vitamin D deficiency was significantly higher in PA patients than non-PA subjects(75.6%vs 65.2%,P=0.038).Compared with non-PA patients,PA patients had lower mean 25(OH)D values(15.12±6.77ng/ml vs 17.38±7.77ng/ml,P=0.007).Our study showed negative correlation between vitamin D with SBP、serum Ca2+、PTH、plasma aldosterone concentration(PAC)while age and sex adjusted(r=-0.21,-0.19,-0.22,-0.182,P<0.05).Logistic regression analysis demonstrated age、serum K+、vitamin D correlation with PA patients whom aldosterone markedly increased[OR],1.43,0.72,0.78;95%confidence interval[95%CI],1.06-1.94,0.52-0.98,0.66-0.93,P≤0.05).Conclusion:Hence,our results showed negative correlation between vitamin D and PAC,PA patients more likely to happen vitamin D deficiency.
